This happened yesterday so it's more just advice for future to save me feeling like a complete amateur.
Had 9 team Acca, 8 won, last game was Leicester to beat villa at 6/5... £10 stake, £3200 return.
What order would you base priority in these situations? I.e current money situation, value of cash out etc, genuinely didn't know what to do for best ha.
I have deposit limits on my accounts so struggle to get large sums on, ended up getting someone to put £200 on villa/draw at half time at 29/10 and let the rest ride
Firstly, nice work on the results.
Maths folk will arrive soon no doubt, but in short:
1. Don't cash out ever. Bookies take a 10% commission on the actual equity of your bet. Your bet was actually worth an extra £335
2. You've already probably paid at massive premium on your acca in the first place, so don't give them any more.
3. Don't bet more than you can afford to lose, so if the tenner is just a fun amount (which it isn't for everyone), it's not a big deal if you lose it.
4. The £3,200 isn't your money, just as it isn't when any match you bet on kicks off. It's a brilliant marketing tool but it's why bookies advertise both accas and cash out.
5. If you want to find an efficient way of making a few bob either way when 8 out of 8 are in and you're sweating number 9, lay the result you want on betfair and pay less commission. Even if it's just your stake back and you're freerolling, fine. This is usually better than backing the other team AND the draw.
6. As Ironside says, if you don't want to sweat number 9, don't bet number 9. You can always take your 8 fold and spend some of the money on Leicester at 6/5 before kick off if you fancy. Like putting £5 on roulette, binking a number, pocketing £100 and playing with the other £80.
Hope this is of some use.
