Another rough day for most of the tipsters. Smiley

Interesting to note that despite being robbed on Monday by a dodgy ruling when Windsor was abandoned just prior to my tip running, & almost certainly winning handsomely, I still have 30 entrants with worse scores than me.

There are a few nondescript tearaways at the head of the field, but I'm sitting quietly, covered up on the rail, with a double handful, very much in the style of the greatest jockey ever.

As I ease past the leaders, I'll cast a withering look in their direction.

If I win I shall be donating any proceeds to Tikay's Vegas staking charity.

You do remember we're doing this because tikay has won £10,000 in tax free cash monies because of us all, right? Cheesy

I shall be following the EvilPie model of retaining winnings, although I might possibly stretch to a tall latte for him if I win the comp.

Should the planets and my tips align it will theoretically be what is known in the trade as a spinup opportunity, notwithstanding Mere arbiter referring to the stakes as donations.

Ladies tennis seems so difficult to predict! Usually it is anyone can beat anyone and then Serena wins. But this year we are not so sure about the last part. I think I will put on some each way bets for some ladies in the other half of the draw to Serena. The ladies we have mentioned, plus perhaps Bouchard? It seems pretty tricky to predict. Any of the seeds might fall early and then that part of the draw opens up...

Hope Bacsinszky wins in Rome now!

Anywhere I can watch the third set of this anyone?

Also Mere what do you think about the chances of both of these ladies and Muguruza in the French net week? Is it all draw dependent?

At 10am this morning we have the clash of the Titans.

Carla Suarez Navarro plays Timea Bacsinszky in round 3 in Rome.

bergeroo has CSN at 22/1 e/w for the tournament.
MereNovice has TB at 33/1 e/w for the tournament.

The bookies make Bacsinszky a slight favourite.
We will have to wait and see.

Bet365 if you have £5 in your account.
It's very topsy-turvy!

I'll respond on the rest when the match is over.

Ms Bacsinszky wins 5-7, 7-5, 6-2 in a match that really could have gone either way.
TB won the first 3 games, CSN won the next 5, TB won 2 then CSN won the last 2 of the first set.
CSN was also 4-2 up in the 2nd set and served for the match at 5-4.
TB rather dominated the 3rd set.
I wouldn't say that it was the highest standard but it was certainly tense!

The French Open starts a week on Sunday.
I'm not sure that Azarenka will be fit enough by then to challenge.
Halep will likely struggle with her confidence despite winning in Madrid. Not being able to have her coach, Darren Cahill on court in a Grand Slam event will hinder her.

I think the three you mentioned can all run deep.
Muguruza will (likely) be seeded 4 and the other two will also be in the top 16 as well.

My long-shot hope was Kasatkina who I expected to have an excellent clay-court season but it hasn't materialised.

I think Serena Williams might win it, though. Smiley

Who do you fancy?

Blue sky thinking announcement

This, from a back of a fag packet idea a few weeks ago, has been a successful thing. lots of participation

I'm thinking of making it a regular thing, every few months or so, to possibly coincide with big sporting weeks

Its not going to be possible to do it as a freeroll though, well not often, so I would probably do it for a £10 entry fee per week with three prizes and a fourth for top single bet return

Feedback welcome as to whether you would participate on those terms please

also what tweaks if any would you make? Bear in mind that it only works of the admin is do-able, its time consuming so needs to be reasonably simple - check and confirm bets, data entry etc

Morning Tighty.

This has been great fun, and the work and time Vince has spent on this is incredible, so a real hats off.

I don't normally bother with the tipster comps, but as this was for the ultimate bragging rights, one had to chuck ones hat in the ring, it aint about the free money(any fluked winnings will go to charity).

Inevitably, it has turned into a guessfest, and I have no issue with that at all, its to be expected, but realistically, looking ahead, anyone putting up 50-1+ pokes would be better served investing it at the price and not into a 30-50 man guessathon. Maybe its not in the spirit of things, but we do have "value" as our mantra. Its not pouring cold water on the idea, I'm just expressing my thoughts.

For me, its been really interesting seeing peoples selections each day, and I would have been keen to see how people ranked their fancies on a 1-3/1-5 scale of confidence(maybe a thought for TFT?), because I may have invested on a few more.

For all that, its been great seeing some regular TFT lurkers put some opinions forward, and hopefully they will contribute more on the main platform.

These things naturally decend into the antithesis of tft pretty rapidly with everyone trying to find the biggest priced punt.

Maybe we could limit it to bets on the day?  Though the best strategy may well be to pick 5 golfers at 33/1 it does spoil the sweat in the comp.

I am not sure I like the limits on what you can bet on Saturday or Sunday.   It is going to be pretty hard to.find a golfer nobody has backed come Sunday, so Sunday becomes a game of who can get their tips in first?  Alternatively if Aaron is leading by 50,  could wait for his bet to lose and just pick a 2/1 winner.  That seems most unfair to Aaron. I think tips by pm by noon/2pm is fairer.and we should change it for this tournament too.

If we stick with the current rule, can we clarify the Saturday and Sunday rule.  If I have backed Spieth  on Tuesday, can nobody back him on Saturday or are we limiting it to one person on Saturday and one on Sunday?

i took it that the weekend restriction referred to bets on the day.

whoever has backed what mon-fri is immaterial
