Central Leicester Haymarket this weekend just gone
in a row william hill, ladbrokes, stan j, paddy power
i want to place a bet in a shop as i struggle to get on online on a few accounts
Go to a terminal, by chance to avoid queues at a busy time
Perez 80-1 Monaco GP, Hulkenberg 130-1
but it appears to be win only, i want each way
Go to the screens the staff use and politely ask for prices
Perez 50-1 Hulkenberg 80-1
1/5 1,2,3 offered
the terminals offer top three prices of
Perez 5-1 Hulkenberg 13/2 so nothing like the each way odds
the terminals won't let you bet each way. the staff won't take over the counter bets at the higher prices as the "terminals are not controlled by us"
you want 80/1 and 130/1 1/5 1,2,3
what's your play? do you have any play?
is offering different prixces and terms in the same shop computer terminal (next to the FOBTs) and behind the counter acceptable? is this common?
thanks

As long as each-way terms are not advertised on the screen that the higher prices are listed on, I think this is fine. It's reasonable for a bookie to offer different prices for a win only market versus each-way I would say - it seems clear in this case that the the shape of the market would make place bets too profitable for the punter if the prices were close to reasonable on the win part.
Coral do this for horse races on their website, except they go about it in a slightly different way - they advertise the each-way price as standard, but offer an 'enhanced' win only price.
Generally speaking, I think those terminals in betting shops are quite carefully restricted in terms of betting options to deter advantage bettors (for example I'm fairly sure they're SP-only on horse racing).

Then try getting a bet on in those terminals and you get heavy restricted but can go back in and get the same price.

I can't speak for all bookmakers, but Prices on self-service machines in Laddies are different as a Swedish company set the odds. I presume they pay us to have them in our shops. Sometimes they have ricks on them and the prices often vary from OTC. Machine doesn't do e/w on stuff like golf which is mental, so wouldn't be surprised if they didn't do e/w on F1.
We can't give you the SSBT prices OTC, as they aren't set by our traders.

Seems bad to me. As a punter, I don't set the each way terms, the bookies does. If I realise that the each way terms they set are too generous then that should reflect badly on them and not on me. FWIW I started backing each way in that race before the top 3 bets and betfair place market was formed.
Some bookies are offering different each way terms on line and in shops. Which at the least is going to result in some punters feeling mislead.
On a related topic, I read somewhere that some bookies (think it was specifically Hills) will offer you the new price of the price has fallen whilst you are waiting to put on the bet, but not if it had increased. Thinking about this, I have been re-offered a lower price numerous times, but not sure I have ever been offered a higher price (though think it might have happened if they have advertised a price jump at a set time). That seems pretty shady to me too.

Most of the bets placed so far seem more like hopeful punts rather than value spots

If you want to use the shop again it can be worthwhile taking a bad price (lower your stake) rather than to be perceived as a time waster. In any line of work people hate time wasters and a shop clerks remember the time wasters.
