I only caught this last night. Such good times but so sigh on Gazza and Tony Adams. Apart from 10 mins in 98 this is the last time we were world beaters. El Tel, Motto et al, i was close to tears with this. Amazing times.

Greatest year of my life 1996. Graduated this year. What a Brit pop summer it was. Spice girls just started out in the autumn. And the last year of a proper government before Blair ruined the country (one for woodsey). Things can only get better! D'ream! The Holland game was my fav England game ever. Jordan was back in the NBA causing chaos in the greatest NBA team in history.
The pictures look old now though on the videos of the games in 1996. You know you are getting old when you watch stuff from your fav year and the fashions and hair cuts look rediculous.
Doesn't seem like twenty years ago, look that far forward and most of us are retired! Scary thought.

Hate to put a dampener on it but weren't we rubbish against Switzerland, Scotland and Spain. Good against Holland and a noble showing against Germany? Being at home I think everyone looks back with rose tinted spectacles!

In hindsight Dung, yes. However, those were great days. We were world beaters and we/Gazza did the business against Scotland. Yes, the Dutch team had internal differences but just watch the prog and tell me it wasn't halcyon days.

Ha - just watched it and indeed got goosebumps. Some great games. The music of the time really adds to it.

Watched it a couple of weeks ago. Not sure I was supposed to, but I loved it too.
My wedding reception was delayed because the Spain game went into extra time and penalties. The manager of the hotel tried to get everyone (including my then wife) out of the tv room but they weren't having any of it.
No wonder I got divorced.

Euro 96 is one of my earliest memories. And certainly my earliest football memory.
My gran had just moved in up the street and my dad and uncle were frantically grafting all morning so they could get everything moved in before the Scotland game.
They ended up sacking it off and setting up a tiny white portable T.V in the kitchen and watching Gazza's goal on that T.V is my first sporting memory.
I also remember watching the Germany penalty shootout with an Orange in my hand whilst my sister was physically bending a spoon for some reason.
What a summer.
That 25+ year old T.V is still in my grans spare room now. Might go and watch the Iceland game there on Monday.

It was the first time I managed to get served in an offy which was a right result as it was Marlow regatta day for the Spain game and a bunch of teenagers were never gonna get in a pub.
We found some old plastic chairs and set up camp with our cheap lager outside a TV shop on the high street instead! By extra time and penalties we had a crowd all round us blocking the street.
Great day, great times. Sounds like I need to go watch this too!

Euro96 spent in a pub in Blackpool out singing a pub full of English men, with a young lady trying to get out alive. Another Scotland came in at half time but was escorted out for being a twat. The heartbreak of the 2nd goal but still my voice was heard above the rest. Not sure I would of rolled out in one piece if result was different but a large number of guys shook my hand at the final whistle and not 1 tried to rub my nose in it.
Happy days, was my first holiday after breaking my back, nearly got left on train at Preston but as I was in a carriage with the tartan army and was being fed can after can of lager I wasn't caring
If the result had been different would of been best couple of days of my life post the army

Was at the England Scotland game with the likes of bobby charlton with me in the VIP box, probably the most famous person I had met and was only 11 years old. Good times.
