Short with AK

£100 tournament, but it's actually a freeroll for most of the players (a leage final thing), so early on it's been playing like a £25 tournament. 24 players left, with 10 paid.
We're now 7 hours and people have tightend up a lot now. Average stack is about 25BB.
9 handed I get
UTG. I have 64,400 @ 2k/4k/400 (so 16BB).
I would say a shove is only getting called by 99+,AQ+. Although maybe a little looser for the 2 big stacks at the table.
What should I do?
Where is the line between raising and shoving (in BBs)?
Let's say you raise to 8k, the BB calls and the flop is
.
The pot is 21,600, your stack is 56,400 and the BB has slightly less. What do you do here?
Any thoughts appreciated, thanks.

For me Id either raise to 2.5x and then call a Jam. But tbh its down to table dynamic, Ive had a similar spot lately with a big stack behind who may try and isolate or pick on the 'short stack' so often utg Ive limped there ready to reshove over a raise or call off a jam. I know it looks strong to limp but based on the buyin standard that probably wont be a consideration.

If id raised to 8k and saw that flop id go small again (8k to try and induce a shove) which Id happily call off.
I know others are going to say different but my reply is based on the game standard youve described.

I wouldn't have a 16bb shoving range UTG. I'd make it 8.5k (you're burning 1.5k chips when you make it 10k) on the flop I'd either check or bet a sizing that you can shove turn with.

Just out of interest, why would you not have a jamming range with 16bb UTG?

I don't want to jam Jj+ and then the rest of my range doesn't make nuch from jamming. Many hands I can just r/c or r/f and show higher ev

Cheers guys.
It's good to know it wasn't completely straightforward. I would have always automatically shoved here in the past, but went with the raise (with pleno's reasoning).

Are you r/c 77 utg? r/f seems ridiculous? Obv "it depends" on opponent, but in a vacuum?

pretty sure open jamming 15bb utg is +0.5bb EV from memory, isn't this too big an edge to pass up?

Yes it may be if you shove your whole range. I don't want to do that.

Jamming or raising both good op.
Say for example you were opening in this kind of pub game and getting 4 callers every time despite the shallow stCks, we have a very easy jam.
If it plays somewhat reasonable, then go for a normal raise size.
