Minor spam alert (pls remove Tighty if you think it not appropriate)...   It's been a while since I posted on Blonde but someone asked me if I knew any online communities I could share this with and you lot were all I could think of.

In late November, Craig Gill, the drummer from the Inspiral Carpets passed away suddenly at the age of 44.      Needless to say it was a huge shock for the fans, the band and his family.

A group of fans got together shortly afterwards and thought getting an Inspirals song to the Chirstmas number one would be a good way of honouring Craig and his contribution to the UK and Manchester music scenes.   What started as a small online campaign has mushroomed, getting coverage from national press, support from a number of premiership clubs - you may have heard Saturn 5 belting out City,Utd and Liverpool games in the past few weeks.    The campaign also has support from a growing number of celebs.

In order to make this work though... people need to share and download the single - Saturn 5.     It would be great if the good peeps at Blonde could get behind this and download / share as they see fit.    Even if you don't like the music if would be one in the eye for Cowell to get a Indie tune up there come Christmas day.

On a side note it may be worth a quick tenner on this at the bookies as well.  Outsider at the moment but the campaign has really geared up in the past day or two.  I'm sure its value at 20s in some shops.

Thanks!

Downloaded it from Amazon for 59p on Friday.

Clean Bandit are the clear bookies faves now but still hoping the Inspirals campaign has more juice to come.

Mind you, that probably counts as a result as the fav in that article above (Hospices Choir) only managed 81.

Looks likr the streaming aspect of the chart means these sorts of campaigns look doomed as it's not enough for a song to get bought but people have to actually listen to it lots.

The Friends of Jo Cox charity single only managed 138 - worst 9/4 shot in history.

Yeah I read elsewhere that without streaming counting it would've been 7th on downloads. So whilst 48th looks (and is) disappointing, it simply got coshed by the streaming aspect.

Clean Bandit only shifted 57,000 copies, of which the percentages of buying/downloading/streaming are pretty skewed.

I believe the streaming threshold is going up to 150 next year from 100 for it to count as a sale.
