Anyone got any Hendon Mob links of tournies 20 years ago where the rake was about 1%? I want to check them out.

I mean if everything is up front then people can make the choice I suppose. The problem is that in general there are only a couple of casino chains in the UK so in reality not that much choice. It is great for poker in the UK that DTD exists. They offer a great product and care about the game, so they push everyone else to try and do better to try and compete.

In Berlin tournies are raked at a flat 10% everywhere with nothing taken out for staff. So even 20+2 freezeouts. In contrast cash game rake is extortionate.

For cash games? That's a Berlin/european style of rake today! Cash game rake in the UK is pretty decent I'd say for the most part these days...
When I started playing, rake was 10%, capped at £25.

No, that was the tournament cap.

£1000+£25

Cash games were never raked.

You paid an hourly session fee in the London casinos, but cash games were free in Reading, Southampton, Pompey and Luton where I played.

back in the day before money maker poker was seen as a loss leader to get people in to play poker then spend any profit on the magical wheel of doom.

When more and more people started coming in and playing £10+1 rebuy and then even worse demanding dealers and leaving without gambling it made it less of a good deal for casinos
the new regs about the fees and rakes were always going to go up as soon as they could. And recs arent really bothered after all we pay petrol food even hotel room rates on top  of the buy ins
to enter a £100 or £200 comp.

my average cost to play a £300 comp in DTD when it first opened was close to £1000 £200 flights and parking £200 hotel for 3 nights £100+ on food and left me £200 for visiting the girls next door or a cash game
but would i be happy with a min cash you bet your bottom dollar i would after all i play for fun

If you charge £50 for something, then you put it up to £80 and demand doesn't drop, then you put it to £100 and demand doesn't drop, economically speaking it was far too cheap initially.
