That reminds me of the incident where two golfers suffered wounds after being attacked by an alligator in Florida and subsequently sued the golf club.

One had been bitten on the leg and the other lost two fingers in the attack but the golf club disputed the claim as the guy who lost the fingers was said to be feeding the 'gator.
