What's going on with the snooker?
I've been busy today buy I caught a bit of Selby playing Selt or whatever his name is, then an hour later Selby was playing Doherty.

Crazy scheduling these one week 128 player best of 7 events. Lot of players play twice in a day.

Today's google doodle was Masako Katsura, & I'd never heard of him but as usual, I had a quick look on Wiki.
Turns out "him" is a "her", was Japanese, & she was a top 10 USA billiards player in the 1950's. (USA billiards take a variety of forms).
For a female to do so well in a totally male-dominated sport in the 1950's was an astonishing achievement. In fact even today, it would be extraordinary, as the gulf in class between male & female in Billiards, Pool, Snooker etc remains generally enormous.
Can't have been easy either for a Japanese national to be popular in the USA in the 50's.

I think "billiards" in the USA means three-cushion billiards played with two white balls and one red on a table with no pockets.

Yes, it's not billiards as we know it, but even so, a remarkable story.

It certainly is remarkable.
Three-cushion is very much technique rather than power which might have something to do with it but I've never even heard of a female player before.

I had to stop watching on betfair - it was rather like watching Tom and me.

You done a super yankee on the darts draws tonight? 3 out of 4 copped going into the last match
4 out of 5 after the first game wasn't a draw. Not a copper coin on either

No. I thought it was on Thursdays.
Besides I'm trying to give up super-yankees

this fifth frame is truly awful. I only just turned it on. Has the whole match been this bad?

Yep, it's really bad.
Old man watched a bit and White missed by a way, and he didn't think he went for it. I told him he definitely did, and both of them are missing by miles.
I was better than this when I was 14 years old

Frames 4 and 6 were ok. The others all pretty terrible.
Frame 3 stat is amazing. Hendry won with a top break of 7! (And that was potting the final ball...)

I must have been eating during the 3rd, lol.
Warmed up nicely now, and it's like a decent club match.
