I'm still here. Got the laptop out to let y'all know that it's going ok, just very slowly and methodically.
Newmanseye gave me a phone to let me know that y'all were concerned.
Unplugged the computer took the side off, it looked scary so I re-plugged the computer to look at the instructions.
Unplugged it again, still too scary. So plugged it in again and set up my printer so I could have a hard copy of the instructions.
I'm getting very good at unplugging and re-plugging the computer now.
I'm about to make the critical incision. It's hard without a nurse present. (You can let this one go Kev)
Turns out I've got to take the old video card out first. Now we're cooking with gas.
Ifm's theory number 2 is quite close to the mark.

This thread is really making me giggle!! Just what I needed after ripping PC's apart all day at Uni ( great fun BTW

Tank, Sweety, it is one of the easier tasks you can do pc wise, so be brave, take a deep breath and get stuck in
Remember to uninstall your old graphics card drivers before you install the new card, to stop any conflicts. Then whip out the old card, pop the new one in (make sure it's pushed in all the way), hook it all back up, install new drivers and Robert's your Mothers brother

Ahhhh, that'll be why windows explorer doesn't work. Thanks Ginger. (wish someone said that 2 hours ago)
