The Genting Poker Tour has a confusing selection of Day ones this week and i am unsure what to play.

1a Wednesday 7pm 40 minute blinds
1b Thursday 3pm 60 minute blinds
1c Friday 3pm 60 minute blinds
1b Friday 10pm 24 minute blinds

All day ones will finish around 1:45am

If i have two bullets which shall i play? (I live in Birmingham but on the complete other side of the city. So travelling time but no hotel costs)

Which flight would a one bullet 9-5 working recreational player be drawn to? I am unsure if Friday and late reg after work or they might play Wednesday from the start?

Seems like 1c should be way bigger than the rest?

I'd do 1c, as it might be a bit more lively.

The 10pm might have some good drinkers Smiley

I would go with 1a and 1c

1d will likely have the softest field and worst play but I don't know if it's one we want to be playing particularly and not getting many hands in.

Pretty much this and it isn't even close tbh if you going to play 2 bullets max.   These two will have the most play, the most rec players and the biggest fields.

Do we think recs will value playing from the start so much that they will choose 1a and the shorter blind levels?

I worry that will show up and it will be just the 20 aggro kids in headphones there who plan to fire 5/6 bullets!

<waves>

I'd choose 1c.

Don't want to play till stupid o'clock in 1a and have 2 hours sleep before work on Thu.
1b, don't want to take a Thursday off and have to go back to work on Friday.
1c, best clock, most bang for my buck, can tell work it's just a long weekend.
1d, don't want to play till even stupider o'clock.

If its at resorts world then the midweek 7pm flight will probably have the most local 'casual's' out of all the legs.  The travelling 'casuals' will play friday.  Thurs daytime will be the nut worse leg to play by a mile i would imagine.

All flights will finish about 1.40am due to the variable blinds abd no dinner break for a and d.

But yeah long weekend seems to be a good shout for the working man!

Yes Resorts World. Will be my first time there.

I may follow your local knowledge and check out the field tonight  Dinner breaks are annoying anyway!

I wonder if attendence will be affected by people wanting to watch the Champs League semi final though?

Played today but it turns out that 1c would almost certainly have been better as the field was tiny. Really friendly fun tables though and at least I bagged up. Shout out to RobS for giving me a lift afterwards.

Nice cardroom actually.

Those first flights always seem dead, I have never seen one full anywhere, bar the niche WSOP events.

Best of luck for day 2!

Post when you make it to the final day, as I shall be up to play the Masters, which last year got about 120 runners plus numerous rebuys. Which included players from the final table of the GPS.

From memory the FT on the Sunday was similar to the FT of the masters in that they were in the majority regular local players, who all seemed to know each others game. On the FT of the masters out of the nine players left, eight of them knew each by there christian names and before a card was dealt there were negotiations going on.

Are you a reg there? Seems pretty lively on a Wednesday night. Lots of cash game action. If I lived in Birmingham full time then I guess I'd be in here a lot!

No not a reg, but have several mates who are, they go for the cash games which can as you say be very lively, when I last played there seemed to be several dealers from other casinos playing.

I have to say that if they do not know you they do try and squeeze you out (not collusion) more your on our turf now, which I found worked to my advantage hence been the only outsider on the FT. As you say very friendly though they can get short of dealers when there is a Tournament running.

I am hoping when you say "friendly" you mean in a nice way. If there was a sniff of any collusion/soft play I would bar them all.  It may play lunatic style sometimes but would hope we are the most professional cardroom in the Midlands at this time.
I am blessed with a lot of staff too, and during normal comps I have shed loads of dealers waiting for cash games to open. However there is some truth that Sunday I will be short on cash game dealers as the dealers are all now on overtime and if they want to go home I can't force them to stop. Best of luck in the Masters or cash games if you can get on.

Your first 2 posts on blonde seem a little damning and more akin to our competitors, please feel free to speak to me if you have any concerns about the cardrooms integrity as it is top of my list. I am the podgy one with glasses and suit
