$1500 shootout

Hmmm down to 18k

Raise cutoff to 500. Small blind defends.

two hearts

He checks, I actually decide to check. He should have a fairly wide XR'ing range on J92 two -tone, and there's always the added advantage when you check behind a flush draw

two hearts

He checks, I bet 800 into 1,400. Call

two hearts

He now bets one 5k chip, into a 3k pot

Wow. It should happen sometimes in theory, but doesn't much in practice

Does this mean he always has it? Potentially.

How many bare combos are there he may bluff with? I think he can have that quite alot - no reason he can't have bare with a 2, 9, or 4. He could even have it with a Jack, even though it would seem unecesary to bluff.

There's also the random stuff, or the overplay of a lower flush. Or, not quite being sure what chips to put in has led to this overbet.

I don't love it, it definitely carries the feeling of "am I always being shown the nuts here?"

I do get shown the nuts. .

Oh well. Think he should probably check raise.

That’s right. Check-raise gives you a far tougher decision on that river. Extremely hard to fold 2nd nuts….

Yeah check -raise I guess either leads to me calling and folding the turn, or -if we get to it - going broke on the river.

$1500 no limit shoot out

We're unfortunately gone

Never really truly got going. 21k at 500BB, five handed

UTG, raise to 1.2k, UTG1 3bets to 3.2k

All in, call. He has

The race that we've had twice in other tournaments, but this one brings no drama

+1

I’m pretty sure you’ll enjoy the Stud/Omaha Hilo a lot more - and have a far bigger edge in a tournament that plays more to your strengths. Never been a fan of Shootouts.

$2,500 Mixed Omaha/stud hilo

This is such a cool event. There's something about the format, of one flop game and one board game, whilst both split pot, that makes it more fun than those single events.

7 handed, seems encouraging table. After some rejigging, we're in what was meant to be the High roller area, so we get the posh seats.

35k to start

$2,500 Mixed Omaha/Stud Hilo

Ranking of some of the events by atmosphere-

Big bet Mix - always great, all the mixed players find it so much fun to be playing that collection of games. Lindgren the life and soul of the party

Main event -  The stand out atmosphere of the year . One to warm your heart about poker

Short deck -  bottom of the list. Had that feel of most People  "hopping in" because it was the event that day. Zamani his usual strange self. Only-moment of comedy was Pads saying something about frogs

Omaha/studhilo- Back to the top. Everyone excited for it, a number of people I would suspect have come in specially for it

Mixed Omaha/stud hilo

Hmm nasty one

Omaha hilo

We have three diamonds in small at  400-800(800)

UTG raises , UTG2 calls. Easy 3bet.

We now go 5bets. In fact, UTG tries to make it 6bets. That is of course over the cap

His enthusiasm, along with of course his action, make it feel like the other two aces are in his hands.

Hmm. This game always more interesting when the flop actually guarantees it is a game of Omaha hi. But that flop isn't great.

I check, enthusiastic guy bets, and we both call

two spades

Aces could still be good. There just shouldn't be too many two pairs combos, especially in 5bet ranges.

I check, enthusiastic guy bets, other guy folds. Massive pot odds obviously, we just about call

two spades

Ouch

I check, enthusiastic guy bets.

Let's imagine it from the point of view that he does always have the other two aces. I just don't see him bluffing. No reason I can't have it, and people just don't find enough bluffs in this game, especially in confusing spots. Plus, he obviously has enough showdown value to check behind.

If he doesn't have AA, he surely must have 2 pair for his turn bet. Which then doesn't bluff the river.

So, it feels just about OK to fold.

28k (35k starting stack)
