Don't know how much the main event is different, as people lose 10k with bad calls, but expect to get called by a 6 on Sky, which is kind of where I'd put day 1 standard to be.

Think I'd be appalled if I bluffed someone holding a 6 and they called.  One of those wtf did I do that moments you get in poker.  If they'd just thought about it a bit more, yada, yada.  But really they are just thinking I have trips on an ace high board, I can't fold.

Anyway, good luck Stu, you are in a good spot regardless.

Thanks for the detailed response Stu. I think I’m with Doobs on the propensity for sigh/calls with a bare six (hence the question), although I now recognise that you judged the player good enough to find the fold with you repping AA/99

Looking forward to today’s action

surely comparing day 1 of main to random sky tourney is pushing it a bit ? we all see ridiculous stuff posted on pokernews where people punt it off sure , but they cant be happening left right and centre can they ?

i am well aware doobs has been playing and doing well a long time , and i am at best breakeven , so have huge respect for his take, but am fairly confident "spanish grinder " must have been at table for long time and see stu as someone who has been playing it pretty tight and not blasting off like a madman. prob only player at table you can try this bluff on if he is a thinking player. of course it feels terrible if he snaps it off with a 6, it is going to haunt you big time.

with these really long structures , (not that i have played one ever ) , there must be a huge amount of table image and how people perceive you after 8 hours sharing a table , opposed to a  $20 6max  on sky with 10 minute blinds. anyway interesting to see opinions.

good luck sunday

added bonus being that if you do get the bluff through , and choose to show it,  sets you up for when you actually have it

First of all let me make it clear that I don't bluff. But..

If I do get one through and show it, it makes me think that they think I have it next time, which means I can get another one through.

Or it would if I bluffed, but I don't.

Have played both, and unless you get a back draw, think main event day 1 plays like main on Sky (I don't really play the random ones). Main is softer than a 2.5k/3k in WSOP.  It is just the volume of players playing the main for the experience.  By day 3, it has toughened up noticeably. Day 1 of the $5k 6 max is just a much higher standard.  Definitely wouldn't go lower buyin than the main because you think it is softer (you'd have to go $1k down or seniors?).

And having played with Stu, don't think oppo is going to be thinking he is super tight after 8 hours.  Just really saying he shouldn't beat himself up thinking he could have got the bluff through and move on.

FWIW the $1500 plo8 at WSOP is going to be below a $50 PLO8 on Stars.  Difference is stark.  Also think I'd be more confident of profitability in the main event than an average $100 tourney on Stars.  A lot of online is super tough these days.

$1,600 Venetian Ultimate Bounty

And just to clarify

- $500 bounty on each head, $2k bounty when in money

- A kid is anyone younger than me, and so spans an increasingly wide range
