The 10th is a 527 yard par5 off the whites and it was into a fair 2-club breeze that day - I hit a decent drive and barely made the fairway, followed by a couple of pretty good 3woods which left me just short of the green with a fairly simple pitch over a greenside bunker to about 4 feet.

It's great being able to see everyone's scores on howdidido I'm looking forward to asking a mate to talk me through the 13 he had on our 16th last week.

Nice birdie, birdie finish on Saturday Jim. I'm sure the guy you beat on the countback must have been thrilled.

13 is pretty bad, coming from a guy who carded a 10 in a better ball last week Smiley  I was hoping for a story along the lines of tigers off the back of 16 as you hadn't registered a putt  Grin

I hope we get a game sometime Ralph,  you are still one of the coolest people I.ve met. I really need to come down and visit that baldy guy and his odd pal sometime....

Well played Tom. I'm sure that won you the money!

Squeaked in by one point Ralph. They're all bandits in our group.

Tough school.

Nice going guys, everyone still trending by the look of it, well almost everyone....Tony?

I'll try & do a bit of an update in the next few days James.

I do love this thread, I read it every day, & am so pleased I started it, it's great to see the enthusiasm.

Unforch, I'm embarrassingly bad at the game, so I'm not sure my golf musings will be of much interest, though maybe it'll offer an interesting view from the bottom of the pile. I perhaps should add that playing the game still thrills me, & every day as I head out to play golf I get a tingle in my willy.

Seriously James, you really should try & get a game with Ralph. I'm not bsuha, or in any way demeaning my regular partners, but playing golf with Ralph is one of the best things ever, he's SO correct as to etiquette/protocol, which is something that matters a great deal to me, perhaps more than it should.

You really should try & get a game with Ralph. Trust me.

Today, it's Priory, which is by some way the tougher of the two Breadsall courses. The fairways mostly slope steeply sideways, & with the concrete-hard ground at the moment, no matter where the tee-shot lands the ball rolls right across the Fairway.

With my appalling swing/technique (it's actually offensive to even call it a "swing") means I'm woefully inconsistent. A few days ago, on the tough Priory, I shot 38 & won by, I think, 8 stabbos, yesterday, on the far easier Moorlands course, I only managed 30 & was 10 shots off the winner.

All of which should be seen in the context of my Handicap of 29.2, meaning I play off 33 on Priory & 28 on Moorlands. Eek, but it's not for want of effort or desire, I'm just elite-level shite.

Every shot, every game, is a surprise.

I played a 3 clubs + putter seniors comp today. Started well scoring on all holes up to the 7th then it went to shit. Finished on only 23 points. Bit different from my last outing.

It's hopefully something I can manage next year pretty much used up all my holidays for golf or holidays where I golf Smiley. Like Ralph I'm pretty big on playing by the book etc and have even passed the R&A level 1 exam. Something I reckon most people should do it's a CBT course and doesn't take long https://www.randa.org/rules-academy

You just have to let me know anytime you're planning to be in this neck of the woods James and it'll be a pleasure to arrange a game.
