Hello,

I have recieved a parking notice 😔

What is the legal status if you recieved a parking charge notice from a hotel after staying with them?

If you completely ignore  it I guess that chances of being taken to court are quite minimal but would you have a leg to stand on if it went this far?

More details needed.

Why did you get a charge if you were staying with them, did you forget to validate?

So have you contacted the hotel? If not, do so and state your name, date of stay and reg number and ask them to cancel.

I've been collared a few times at restaurants where they obviously 'sell' the parking rights to a 3rd party company and you're supposed to 'validate' at the restaurant, but I wasn't made aware of this when entering.

Got them cancelled easily enough with a phone call, as the staff should have told me to enter my reg before being seated.

I'd call the hotel to try speaking with someone and plead ignorance. Hopefully they'll let you pay for the parking retrospectively if you butter them up a bit on the phone.

Cheers the hotel has rescinded the ticket

If they had not, is there any chance the parking company would ever pursue it beyond a few letters?

The problem with ignoring things rather than disputing them, is that you are dealing with a business that has a profitable process to deal with people that ignore the demands. This might involve extra charges, court, debt collecters etc. It is that process you have initiated by ignoring rather than disputing.

I've not had one I had to pay since I lived in London, but for the price, I've always been in the pay and forget about it camp.

Obv makes me part of the problem, rather than the solution, though. I didn't have the patience to be worrying about going back & forward with some parking firm Cheesy
