Strange Man
«

A strange thing happened to me today. I was down the street taking back a couple of DVD's to the video shop. The rain was pissing down as it normally does where I live. The street was fairly empty.
A car pulled up next to me by the road. It was a nice dark colored BMW.
A good looking foreign guy abit like the F1 driver Giancarlo Fishechella ( I am not gay, this is merely a description) opened the window.
I asked " can I help you " thinking he was after directions
He said " Yes, do you speak italian....my name is Luca ...."
I said " No mate, I can't speak Italian, only english and a tiny bit of Arabic"
He said " That is ok.... I work for Gianni Versace.....have you heard of them"
I said " of course i have heard of them.... everyone has"
He then said " I want to give you a gift.....what is your name and address?"
At this point I started to get abit nervous.
I said " what kind of gift" thinking he was going to shoot me or something
He said "I want to give you 3 new suits( like the one he was wearing. expensive looking) and 10 pairs of leather shoes and jackets"
I said " and why would you want to do that mate"
Well he said " I need you to store these boxes for my associates". In the back of his car there were several sealed silver boxes. " get in the car and I will take you to your clothes and let you try them on "
At this point, I said no thanks mate, I have to meet a friend for lunch and left him.
Weird isn't it . I think he was probably after my kidneys or something.
He stopped the car further down the street next to another guy about my age and build.
I stopped walking and pretended to look at the display in the newsagents window. After a few minutes, the guy got in the car and drove off with the foreign guy.
What an idiot for getting in the car with a stranger.

Strange. What town did this happen in? Kidneys for suits doesn't sound too bad, you only need one afterall? right?

Blimey.
I look forward to watching the reconstruction of this on Crimewatch.

You should call the filth, won't look good if the fella got chopped up and you posted on a poker site instead of getting the pigs onto him.

It happened in Kilmarnock.
I told a few guys I knew who were at the local shop. They said I was daft not to go and get the free suits.
But, I still remember those TV adverts from about twenty years ago. Even at 26, I still wouldn't get in a car with a stranger.
I wish I could speak Italian. Atleast then I would have been able to quiz the guy abit more. My knowledge of foreign languages extends to about five words in Arabic. They are how to say - Hello, goodbye, where are the toilets?, Are you singLe?, and Can I have reservations for 8pm this evening?. Not much use in this situation.

lol all useful stuff eh
Strange old tale. Regret not going? I'd have been tempted. I assume its all hooky and stuff and he wants you to look after something dodgy but for a nice bung it could turn out ok. Bit risky though.

its a very common scam that usually happens in motorway services... it used to be in the form of "I am coming home from a successfull fashion show and my boss nsays I can have the suits/leather jackets/watches as a bonus but nI dont want to take them through customs",,, the latest version is the one that you came across and it always ends up in " Listen I need to know I can trust you so I will drop you off at the cashline and you can have the suits for 50 quid each)..

all sounds a bit strange to me and also glad you didnt go. gets you wondering though about those suits if he was for real. if he didnt give you a reason for giving you the suits, you probably were not going to get them. maybe he thought you were a fashion icon and thought you could drum up some business for the versace empire by strutting your stuff in them up the local dancing. when people ask where you got your gear. you respond, 'versace' and get commission for every sale. well we can all dream
good story

A similar thing happened to me about 5 years ago in Safeways (now Morrisons) car park.
Italian guy pulls up in a nice looking motor shows me his business card and explains he will give me all this surplus stock he has, my eyes light up as he shows me a few nice suits and about 5 leather jackets.
He then says it's all mine for £80.
Mmmmm, so you're not exactly giving it to me are you.
I rifle through my pockets and find about £15, he then says he will take £50 and points to row of cashpoints.
I know for a fact I had no money in my account and told him so, I then pointed to one particular leather jacket and offered him my £15 for it.
He wasn't keen on the idea and drove off.
If this is a scam I'm not sure how it works, would he have held me up at the cashpoint? Because the suits and jackets looked good quality to me.
It was mid afternoon if I remember correctly, definetley daylight anyway
And Safeway (now Morrisons) had one of those car parks with a barrier where you show your shopping reciept or pay £2 to get out. So I don't think sticking me up at the cashpoint would of been a good idea.
I think I missed myself a bargain.

Yea, its a shame you didn't have the money in your account to buy the jacket.
This must have been in the days before you started winning a fortune at poker.
