Not long now untill this fight happens on Saturday in Manchester.

I hope Calzaghe can do it, but it will be a tall order.

Whats this about a 24ft ring rather than a 20ft ring?  I thought all boxing rings were the same size

I really worry about Calzaghe in this one. I hope he does it tho.

Lacy is a class act though. This will be his career defining fight.

This will not go all the way - that's the only thing I am sure of.

I feel hat this WILL go all the way, and it will be one FANTASTIC fight, These are 2 of the toughest fighters around and niether of them will want to give an inch

But i feel Lacy will take it on ponts, Calzaghe will tire near the 10th because Lacy will be non stop action and i feel as he is alot younger will have the stamina to out last joe

I am so excited about this fight, i can't wait. Calzaghe is so confident and has got the tools to win this, just hope he doesn't get unlucky with his fragile hands. i personally think calazghe will win quickly, round 4.

I hate calzaghe, he's the most undeserving champ around.
He slaps instead of punching and has never faught any credible opponents.
He took advantage of a old and out of form eubank to become champ and has been fighting nobodys ever since.

Eubank was the business and if Calzaghe faught him when he was in his prime he would've got slaughtered.

I hope he gets ruined tommorow

Nahh, I want Calzaghe, Bolt pp.  He is the home fighter for a start and this is his 18th defence ( not sure if I am correct here....where is Nemesis when we need him with the boxing stats  :-))

Everyone has their favorites though. So we will agree to disagree  Cheesy

How many defences did Eubank have?  I remember he had a long run of points finishes. Calaghe has a pretty decent knock out percentage.

The era of Eubank had some truely awesome fighters in Nigel Benn, Michael watson and Seve Collins,

In comparison Calzaghe hasnt fought any one of true quality, IMO Calzaghe isnt a patch on Eubank in his prime.

But I'll be rooting for him tomorrow.

I was a fan of Eubank also. I remember his hissing at the crowd between rounds.

It was sad to see him lose against Carl Thompsom two times at cruiserweight

Gary Shaw opted for the 20 ft ring to force Calzaghe to exchange with Lacy.

Lacy's biggest fights has been against Calzaghe opponents, He was rocked by Sheika early on and went the distance, 5 years before Shieka lost to Calzaghe via TKO.

There not much out there in supermiddle div except Kessler, Allan Green and an aging Beyer.

Joe will probably move up to light heavy and challenge Tarver.

I think eubank held a record for most defenses by a brittish boxer(could have been hamed though i'm not sure)

I agree that there were some great domestic middlewieghts around at that time jim, but collins? are you having a laugh!!!!

I put him in the same catagory as calzaghe, done benn and eubank when they were on their way out and then he offed it with all the dough to become a commentator Cheesy

Eubank 19 fights

He fought Eubank 3 years before Eubank retired, and although Benn's fight against Collins was his last, it was 12 months after the Benn Vs. Gerald McClellan fight (One of the best Super Middleweight fights ever).

IMO Calzaghe wouldn't have beaten Collins.

I thought Steve Collins was underated. He beat Eubank two times and he beat Benn two times. With Collons, there was no showing off, he just got down to business.  He was also middleweight champ before he won at super-middle weight.

comparing boxers who never fought is pretty futile(thogh a good craic). all we can do is hope we have enough good
fighters that make us want to do it. eubank, benn, collins, mclennan in my opinion were the nineties equivalent to the eighties champs
(duran, leonard, hagler and hearns). all eight would have been undisputed if the others hadn't been around.

if only their were more like them, very few divisions are worth bothering about at the moment. and they would be as well doing away with
the heavyweight division.

ok rant over
