I heard the new Bay City Rollers hit on the radio yesterday, Matt.  Cheesy

The was muttering some nonsense about England having it in 1983.  We must be abit behind where I stay. lol

No seriously. Are these big bands?  What are they like, TAKE-THAT?  Cheesy

ive heard of the artic monkeys but couldnt tell you a song title. maybe ive heard one? i wouldnt worry about it as the tunover of bands (if you can call some of them bands) is very high and you'd spend all your timne trying to keep up. the classic example is that noone batted an eyelid when chantelle from big brother said she was a star and the other housemates just accepted it

Arctic Monkeys - I bet that you look good on the dancefloor.  When the sun goes down.  Fake tales of San Francisco.  Musically nothing like Take That.

Jose Gonzalez - Swedish guy, Heartbeats is an amazing song, new singles pretty good as well.  Heartbeats is on the TV advert with all the bouncy coloured balls.

Corrinne Bailey Ray - Solo artist has had two singles, the one about putting your records on is out at the minute, can't remember what either of them are called.

Kooks - second? single is on radio now so single in late April probably.  Naive is top quality really got me interested.

Morning Runner - Burning benches is second single and again is another top quality release.  Hadn't even considered them until Nakor mentioned them.

Mad is right though turnover is high, where are bands like the Feeling etc going to be next time next year?  Would love to see some of the medium bands from last year do well like Futureheads Maximo Park Hard Fi, but who knows.

Thanks, Mr F

I will ask some of my mates. They are trendy and probably have some of these songs.  I will borrow them and have a listen.

Sark, I don't really think it's about being trendy or cool, it's jsut what I consider good music, I'm sure theree's plenty of people out there who don't consider Jose Gonzalez cool music but by all accounts it's a very good album.

Also if you listen to a lot of commercial radio you won't hear a lot of what I would call decent music.  For that sort of stuff you need Virgin XFM or radio 1 down here, you get crap in with it but less of it.

I listen to Radio 2 and Radio 5.

Radio 2 only sometimes and Radio 5 most of the time. There isn't really alot of music on R5, if any at all.

I still listen to bands from the 80's and early 90's, with abit of Andrea Bocelli, Frank Sinatra and Venessa Mae thrown in.

I suspect that JG and CRB may get played on R2 occasionally.  Have you Hayseed Dixie on there?  Now they are a class act.  Went to see them at Wycombe Town Hall, brilliant.

We now have XFM in scotland BTW - and it is pure quality - old beat 106.1 frequency. I mean - how often do you get to listen to sally cinnamon on your way to work in the morning.

What the hell is a beat 106?  Is that a type of drum?

How do I get this XFM?  ( what is it? .... Do they play classic rock music like the WHO, Rolling Stones, ect..... if they do, that would be cool)

try tuning your tranny to 106.1 fm frequency. You will get it in Kilmarnock. I drive past there every morning (very quickly) and the reception is good.
