For the past week or so, I was convinced I was going insane. I normally go running with my mate who is abit older than me. Whenever we came to a certain bit of the route, I would complain that there was a high pitch shriek. My friend couldn't hear a thing.

I knew there must be an explanaition. So I went up to the place where I had heard the noise with my dogs. As I was looking around the guy who is the gardener came across to me and asked what I was up to ( it is a big posh country mansion type place with a forrest where I go running).  I said that I had heard a noise and by my dogs reaction it was obvious he had as well. The gardener told me it was a shriek box to deter yobs and wild aninimals from hanging around on the land. However he said I  shouldn't be able to hear it as I am an adult.

I am proud of my youthful ears and hearing  Cheesy

I had seen something similar before on the news, but with music instead.

Has anyone else seen/heard one of these things?

I heard about it on the news last week I think it was.  It's a good idea I suppose but I feel sorrt for young people that aren't being annoying - young nippers with their parents maybe where the parents want/need to be in the area.  At least the idea is that you only turn it on when needed.

Here's what they look like.
Apparently they're not very easy to conceal and need feeding at least once a week.
If you see a camel then there's sure to be one of these nearby, which kind of gives the game away to any mischevious youths.

Nonsense. Don't you know the new 'Sheik-It-About' department at Selfridges? I scanned it from their advert.

Anyone know where I can get a Pope-on-a-Rope?

Are you sure? This sounds a bit like an episode of Scooby Doo to me. Some mysterious is going on and don't let the gardener deter you from your investigations!
