I just watched this on SKY.
Great result for Phil Laak. He was abit lucky though, I think even he would admit that much.
But for me the winner was Roy Brindley.
I thought the attitude he presented in his interview was great. He realised that he is very fortunate to do what he does for a living. Most people can only dream of doing something they love for a job.
One thing that I hate about poker is inflated ego's. Almost every show I watch there is some arrogant git ( Hellmuth, ect ) complaining about only winning $200,000. >:?

. I hate to see that. Atleast Roy Brindly realises that £65,000 is a serious amount of cash. That is the sort of money that pays the rent and puts food on the table. And he also realises that he won it playing a game that he enjoys.
There are people who have proper ( vital jobs for the running of the country ) jobs like firemen and nurses who never see that kind of money. I thought his attitude was great. He showed he had true class and didn't have the same ego alot of the others have.
On the Blondite profiles section, there is a question " what do you hate about poker". I now know my answer to this.
1. Inflated ego's and not being able to realise being a pro is a lucky position to be in.
2. Wasting the money won on stupid bets. Maybey it is the lack of a desire I have to gamble, I am not sure. But when I see alot of the poker magazines profiling the big stars of poker. Amirilo Slim betting $200,000 on a game of golf, Huck Seed betting someone he can perform a backflip or Doyle Brunson betting a crazy amount of money that he can lose some weight. Who cares? .... What absolute prats if you ask me. This sort of stuff does nothing for me to be honest. I hate gambling. What is big about betting money just to look flash. Why not give it to a charity instead if you have that sort of cash to throw around.
Don't get me wrong. Being a Pro player is a dream I share with almost everyone on Blonde. But, I just don't have the gambling or addictive part of the character alot of the so called big names do. I have yet to meet someone, who can explain why betting on something you have no control over is clever or fun. For me earning that sort of money would mean, I could pay the rent, put food on the table and support all the animal charities my heart would desire.
I thought Roy Brindley was a gent. I wish there were more like him in poker.
Ok, thats my complaint over..
