Rob Hollink on 13,000

Barney Boatman making an impressive start to (his) day 1 calling on the river of a 4,000 pot with A high - and winning!  At least someone here is wide awake

Another early knock-out - this time the beneficiary is Nick Whitten, who was ready to pass on the button to an under-the-gun raise to 300 from a tight betfair guy who hadn't really played a hand.  Until he found AA, re-raised, was r-r-raised and shoved (he was up against the likely KK).  So up to 20,000 odd.

Brian Wilson - newly-blond bracelet winner is out!

The expected raise-fest got him off to a good start, but on the 5th hand he was knocked to just 800.  Despite a whirlwind build-up back to 48,00 a flop of 5 6 9, 2 clubs got him all in with the A8clubs against a flopped set of sixes.  Unrattled, he went for lunch.  Player comment, "Ah, it happens."

RedDog, what do you need matchsticks for?  Visualisation of chip counts?  Such as:

Neil 'Bad Beat' Channing  9,900
Garry Bush   10,500
Carlo     9,300
D. Williams   7,300

Just pre-break when I am sure some stories will filter down to me...
Some counts, gathered from the cavern by the very helpful Robert Cooper:

Dan Harrington    14,000
Paul Lecky    9,000
Joe G.     9,500
Kevin O'Connell    8,000
Jac Arama     6,500
Annie Duke    7,000
Joe Beevers   9,800

Ariston apparently low, will try to track him down as they're now on the break

just caught up with end of day one action.... brilliant updates as always and am still chuckling at the muppet pic. thankyou again everyone at blonde. i know i will be knackered by the end of this tourney but my only comfort is you guys will be absolutely hanging....great stuff. Anyone out there got any more thin, fat, ugly, average looking blokes with glasses/ monocles and / or facial hair for Tikay to track down? - reminds me of Anneka Rice zipping about on Treasure Hunt but far more amusing. And did the muppet make it through? can't seem to find a definitive answer

For some weird reason, after Level 1 finshed, they announced a 30 minute break.

Hope there isnt a female muppet there, do they realise what could happen during a 30 minute break?
