obviously they played it pretty badly. i'm not saying you played it badly but you did nearly everything opposite to what i'd have done.
the call on the turn would normally put me off betting the river. but that would of saved minimal chips in this case.
either way i'd push pre-flop here against a chip leader. and also bet the flop for info with a pair on the board. you're in a strong chip position there's no need to go after all the chips right here.

Hey Trace.

Ok before the flop there is a total of 14,200 in the pot. Leaving you with only 10k ish. It is also relevant that you are playing the chip leader.

Once you connect on this flop I would go all in for a few reasons.

1) You become outright chip leader.

2) You cant ask for a much better flop. (An AQ or AJ flop would be scarier)

3) You will have taken nearly 7k off your nearest rival.

4) You dont want him to draw on you.

5) If the turn comes a scare card (which it did) you'll be forced to slow down. The turn can also be a horror card for draws too ie a red jack/red seven/red nine etc etc, a queen is horrible, a middle card could have brought him trips - the list is endless. In fact there aren't many cards you would like here.

6) He could well be holding AQ here and if he is get it in whilst you are ahead and take his stack.

If he's outflopped you then you are unlucky but this is EXACTLY the flop you want to see. Get it in and worry about it later.

GG anyway. Smiley

Agree with the above. You are in the hand with the top preflop drawing hand, in order to hit the flop with either an ace or a king. If you bet the flop hard (prob all in), then he pretty much must lay it down with any pair but aces, or unless he has hit trips. The way he has played it looks like he has a pocket pair, so yes, all in looks like the move. If he is a decent player then he folds, because he is drawing to only two cards in the deck to beat you, and is about a 11/1 dog.

When you do then bet the turn, he is quite entitled to think the ace hasnt helped you much, and in any case the bet of 1600 is a bit too low. Technically he is still not getting the correct pot odds to call it, but the implied odds of hitting the third 7 on the river make it a bit closer.

If you are not going to bet after connecting with the flop, you have to ask yourself why you are in the hand in the first place....

Agreed the bet on the turn is too smal to scare off someone from a 14k pot.

I was gonna wait a bit and say what i was thinking but Laz pretty much hit it!
Firstly the raise is a blind steal but i don't mind taking on the shorter stacks (<10k) with it.
The minraise by Trace doesn't do anything to scare me, Trace in the pot does though!!! i don't wanna take on a big stack yet.
So calling the minraise is a nobrainer but i HAVE to hit the flop or i'm letting go to any decent bet, flop is horrible and i nearly ticked the "check/fold" button!!
When Trace checked i immediately thought KK, QQ but am obviously happy for the free draw.

The turn is actually a good card for me because i am sure she has none of it and i can now bluff at it.
The bet is far too small to make me pass and it looks like what i call a "stopper" bet (to slow someone down), i call here convinced i'm in front anyway and i'm allin on the river if anything other than a K, Q or J comes (i know it's dangerously passive) but i would still like a cheap turn because i think Trace will bet regardless and i haven't seen Trace play a hand yet so i don't know if i can get a bluff thru with a card to come.
The rest plays itself....

So basically any bet on the flop and i fold and a more substantial one on the turn will set the alarm bells ringing.
