I've been a Blonde now for 7 days and it's been a rollercoaster ride of complete highs and just a few lows.

GlasgowBandit recommended me to the forum and the card room last week and already, I am a junior member - completely hooked on all things blonde. I managed to qualify for the Weekly freeroll final on Sunday at the second attempt after finishing 4th in one of the qualifiers. What a feeling!!
When I say I'm a newbie, I mean - newbie. I only got involved in poker from October 2005 and after winning $2 on Pacificpoker, I wanted more. I never got it though. My own fault really, only playing the freerolls, too scared to play with real money. I organised a poker night at my house and eight of us played into the wee sma' hours. For the record, GlasgowBandit didn't win! I downloaded the Blonde room and never looked back. My first £10 was deposited on Monday 27th March and I won my first STT ($1). I doubled up to a $2 table and finished 2nd.
After a couple of poor loses, my £10 was gone by Tuesday morning - oops!! Another £10, then. Last night I entered a couple of £2 STT and finished 2nd in one of them. So I still have my £10. Hurrah!!
Glasgow Bandit has organised a poker night at his house on Thursday, so we will see how my new 'skills' will translate to a live game. He has even built his own table! I'll post a picture of it on Friday. I really shouldn't be playing tonight as Mrs Steeley is moaning that I'm staying up too late. But...

Great isn't it.  You started playing at the same time as me and I also get earache from the missus for staying up too late, she does have a point though!

Don't worry about losing money too much, the more you play, the more you'll win.  If you can get off those £1 tables too you'll probably find you'll get an even better return on your money too as you get better games.   People mess about on the £1 tables a lot so if you can move  up even one level, it could be worth it.

Here's to many more years of good poker Smiley

well done steely, its a great feeling when you win regardless of the stakes. the only advice i have is to enjoy your poker. when i started out it was the banter and chat i liked but to my detriment i didnt win too much because i was too caught up in talking. now ive stopped all the chatting and have been doing a lot better since. i find that the luck i get comes in spurts. i go through really dry patches where i cant win at all but this seems to be common. ive read loads of posts about folk who cant get back to a winning run. when the drought hits you, did deep cause youll get back out of it again.

have lots of fun

Steeley, you are a liar.  Firstly I recoomended Blonde to you ages back and you never came on - had you done so with the ammount of pants you talk at work  you would have been up there at hero status just now!

Secondly that night at your house I came out with more money than I went in with that to me is a win.

Thirdly, I won our league at work and you finnished bottom.

And err.....  Well thats about it for now.  When you turn up at my house you will get spanked.

Okkkaaayyyy.... GB aint too happy about my little post. Ah, well. He did tell me that he had posted a reply, however, I wasn't able to access the site until after I had driven him from his house to Asda (to pick up booze) and then onto Cincin's to chat to Damon - hmm. >:?
Never mind. Anyway, I am currently playing a $2 STT and I think these tables will be my home for a couple of nights. (UPDATE) Tonight was really poor, no hands fell for me, nothing on the flop, I think I only won 3 hands all night. Am away for an early night  Wink Mrs steeley is probably asleep though  Sad
Thanks for all the advice guys about how to play and where to play. If - no, wait, WHEN I become a millionaire, you are all invited back to mine.
Tomorrow night is the big showdown between myself and GB. It could get messy. I'll let you know how I get on.
