Dell Inspiron with an WUXGA screen - 1920x1200 resolution.
15" version is the 6000, 17" version is the 9000 series. Dell outlet store is a good place for a bargain.

Had a Dell laptop and all I can say is that I will NEVER buy from Dell again.
Had issue after issue..overheating, cd drive malfunctioning for no apparant reason etc etc. They try to fix it all via emails and get the me to take apart the laptop. Eventually they sent an engineer only for the problems to arise again about a month later. Then they delayed replying to emails until my warranty had expired and informed me that I was no longer covered.
Ended up managing to sell it despite its problems on ebay and bought a Sony Vaio and can't recommend it highly enough. If you do decide to go with Dell research the model you are choosing because a number have problems. They tried to claim there wasn't a known problem with the laptop I bought despite thousands of people online complaining and even a computer magazine picking up on a design fault which caused the overheating. Rather than offer an alternative they simply replaced parts so that the laptop would just about continue working until the warranty expired.
