 alright guys

im currently on a break from poker.

basically i was playing too much. spending too much money at homegames, online etc.

so i thought it was time to have a wee break. no playing poker.

im still watching on tv, reading mags/books etc so its not too bad.

and i think if i take a break and think about my game a bit more when i start playing again ill be fresh and hopefully a better player.

basically i want suggestions to what i should do with this break in order to benefit from

any books i could read etc if anyone has any advice.

 cheers

Have a good break, sometimes its the best thing to do. You can look back on how youve been playing. When i need to have a break i always read super system 2 , and the harrington book, and always find new things each time i read.
After your break you should feel fresh and ready to get back into it. Cool

could you elaborate a bit nem why its useful to you

cheers ruth ive got super system 1 but i think it doesnt really apply to online play

or even tournament play but ive also heard harrington on holdem is a good one.

what do you think about super system 2 and which harington books would you recommend

 cheers

I got Harrington Volume 1, his style is different to mind, so its good to pratice his style.
Super systems 2 is just more up dated with other players covering different types of poker. I would reconmend both of them, they have both helped my game Cool

B/T,

It would take me ages to explain the benfits of Pokertracker. Just download the trail version and try it out.

I used one of these when i first started play on the net, i found good to start off with,  then grief having to type in my whole cards all the time. But it was only until i learnt my outs and %, then i stop using it.

I was thinking of taking a break as I kept getting involved in trying to lose my money in cash games when having a drink or two. Instead, I set a challenge to track my play over 100 SnG's, similar to thetank. So far it's helped me see where I've been going wrong, how often I finish early etc... not quiet as indepth as pokertracker, but I didn't need that level of detail.

Using an excel spreadsheet from 2+2 to track.

im not stopping because i need to

i wasnt doing too bad. just the fact that i cant afford to play all the time.

money wise and time wise .

so im just taking a wee break to try and freshen up a bit.

when i start playing again though i will track my results etc to try and improve a bit.
