Just arrived in Vilnius - free wireless connection working great. 

Hotel seems great - my room has a balcony with views over the river and into the old town.  Looking forward to the comps on thursday to saturday.

Ironside - there is an establishment called "Dolls" that I can see from my window - not sure what it could be, perhaps a toy shop of some kind....

The food in the hotel is v good - wonderful filet mignon for 35 litas - £7

The tourney entries and payouts are in local currency - I assume you registered online?  Even so you will have to pay in 1 hour before the start of the tourney.

Went on a tour this morning - there's a lot of history in these parts!  No 1 in the category of "not a lot of people know that" is that Lithuania was the last pagan country in Europe and crusaders used to invade it in the 16th century.  Just about every church had been burnt down and rebuilt at least twice.  One of the churches was turned into the "Museum of Atheism" by the soviets (presumably it was empty....).

Excellent, its been a bit on the cold side the last few times I've been there.  Yes I registered on Baltic Poker.  If only UK casinos would allow that!

One other thing - there is a notice on the lift

"Do not use lift in case of fire" 

I think you can ignore this as I've used it several times and haven't caused a fire yet.

Played in the first comp last night (500 litas nl he freezeout) and managed to grind out 4th place of the 60 players taking part.  We started with 11 handed tables! - one of the tables was for carribean stud not sure if that was 11 or ten handed. 

Started out with 5000 chips blinds 25/50 and 45 minutes levels, but these later moved to half hour.

The locals are generally ok players, which IMO is better than unpredictable loose cannons.  They have some odd rules i.e if a player gets put out in the big blind then 2 big blinds are posted and next hand a big blind and 2 small blinds, one on the button.  "Show one show all" either isn't a rule or isn't enforced.

Got a bit of a cold so not sure if I'll play the omaha tonight.

I would doubt it as the Lithuanians don't appear to eat sweets at all.  I had a wander round the mall near the hotel and couldn't find anywhere to buy a Mars bar (which I of course intended to get deep fried)
