i have a funny view on bad beats, not sure if any others follow it but it helps me

i personally prefer to go out to a bad beat, (and i only ever class a bad beat as loseing over a 70% chance of winning) as i know i have done nothing wrong i have got my opp to get his chips in with the worse of it, over the long run i will win more than him, so im happy with my game, sure some do smart a bit but atleast i know i couldnt of done anybetter,

thats my view - stu

I agree Mr Wood.

The only time i get really annoyed is when i play badly myself and make a stupid mistake that costs me chips or in the worst case the tournament.  If i go out to a 'beat' (and i like your definition of what constitutes a beat) then it hurts but the pragmatist in me says just walk away and look forward to the next time you have the same situation and hope the pot is even bigger.

Someone came up to me the other day in a competition break and was complaining they had just got all their chips in with 9-9 and the guy called him with A-J and hit his Jack! - then said "i'm just getting so many bad beat at the moment" - i just sighed and made an excuse about needing the loo or something - losing a coin flip isn't a bad beat!

Just wondered if anyone had ever won a tournament without winning a bad beat, certainly know that whenever i've managed to win anything i've had a certain amount of luck along the way.. but hey isn't that what the game is all about ??

You are, of course, all correct.  Just a bad day for me.  Entered 3 tournaments.

KK v 33...3 on the flop.   Sad

Nut Flush on turn v trips....rivered a house.   Angry

Flopped middle trips.  Opp flopped top trips.    Shocked

Must sacrifice more traffic wardens/civil servants/politicians at the poker gods altar I suppose.
