I know there have been a mountain of posts about the legality of torrents.   However most of these have been aimed at TV shows and films.  I was looking at torrents this morning for a new album.  Whats the legal status of this?

If I download this am I breaking the law?

thanks..

I know there have been a mountain of posts about the legality of torrents.   However most of these have been aimed at TV shows and films.  I was looking at torrents this morning for the new album that has just been released by Pearl Jam.  When I went to download it, I had a message flash up that said  " Check the legal status of this item ".

If I download this am I breaking the law or is the message I received merely a scare tactic?

thanks..

It's deffo breaking the law, but all depends how conscientious you are.

I don't want to go to prison. I have heard there are men called Bubba and Teabag that stay there.   Cheesy

I will take the safe and boring option as usual.  HMV tommorow morning.

Personally I wouldn't think twice about going to HMV if I can download it for free, need it be illegally Wink

As long as your downloading from a private torrent site then almost no chance of getting caught, and only a handfull of people get caught on P2P or big public torrent sites, and thats usually because they have uploaded tons of stuff.

But if you think you'll lose sleep over it then goto HMV  thumbs up
