W Cheung just shovelled his shortish stack in on the button hoping to pick up the blinds.
Little did he know what awaited him though...
First off Jon "Skalie" Kalmar woke up with A-J. Also shortish he was happy to isolate Cheung's lilkely steal by getting his stack into the middle too. His attempt to isolate was destined for failure though as neither player were to know Steve Jelinek was sat there, loving all the action with a golden pair of aces in the Big Blind...
Cheung showed the worst hand of the lot in
. The flop changed matters somewhat though.
flopped the cards, almost as if Cheung's Q-8 was drawing all the queens and eights out of the pack like a magnet and skalie was banished to the rail whilst Jelinek's stack took a bit of a hit...
Meanwhile I approach table Mason, where Jen has had a slow-ish start to see Jen calling a shortstacked push from Terry Simpson. Terry was hoping to be live with his J-9 but he was disappointed as Jen proudly paraded the dominating A-J and a board of Q-8-2-4-2 didn't alter the status quo meaning Terry hits the bar, and Jen's stack moves upwards and onwards.
GO JEN!

Nick Wright was told an interesting hand by Dave Colclough and he promptly told it to me. It's like Chinese whispers! Probably the hand went nothing like this...
Anyway, with 60k in the pot, Joe Grech bet out 40k on the river of an A-3-small-small-K board, and Stewart Clutterbuck dwelled up for a long time before calling. El Blondie said he put Clutterbuck on an Ace, but had no idea what Grech might have. It turned out to be pocket Nines...
And as I wander over to take a photo of Mr Grech, I see that he has limped, and that for-some-pleasing-reason-always-smiley-in-defeat Carlton Joseph has moved all in from the big blind. Grech calls.
Joe Grech -

Says Grech, "I'm gonna get you all now!"

I snatched a quick chat with Chili and Jen during the short break.
Jen is enjoying herself, but has not had any luck with the cards so far, currently sitting on 42k...
Chili has been all over the shop table-wise, being moved three times in the first 2 hours, but so far her stack has retained a more balanced sense of equilibrium as she is not far off the 94k she started the day on, holding 92k at present. She is overjoyed that Liverpool have now moved THREE nil in front of newcastle.
Fernando Torres - what a legend.

Willie Tann - 40k
Chili - 92k
Julian - can't see him any place so presumed OUT, I'm afraid
John Conroy - 22.5k
Colin Kennedy - 45k
Barny Boatman - 40k
Lloyd Rees 30k and shoving...

And the official chip counts from the end of Level 11. Stewart Clutterbuck obviously has a MASSIVE stack acquired somewhere. Note the disappearance of
Jerome
Bradpiece
from the top end of the counts. He told me during the break that he's only won a single hand all day, and that was calling a gent's all-in with T-5, apparently just basically because he didn't like the guy, I think...

One of those who has bitten the tournament dust since those counts is Terry Chapman. He shoved preflop; Colclough called, and Stewart Clutterbuck gave it some thought too, but passed A-K face up.
Chapman -
Colclough - a very ahead
Board - un-mi-Jack-ulous

Jen Mason has just slapped Paul Rosati with a wet kipper and metaphorically said, "Have some of that, sunshine." All-in on a K-T-9-6 board, Paul's 4-4 was no match for Jen's J-Q, the Ten River not small enough for Paul to survive. The mason cements a mini victory!
--------
We've more all-ins than a Vegas brothel, the latest player to taste victory being Ritchie Allen. With 22k in chips, small blinder Ritchie came over the top of Allesandro Meoni's button raise before being called by
. Somewhat surprised that Meoni made the call, or maybe just anxious that Meoni had sneaked a coinflip, Ritchie revealed his
and glanced up to the heavens. A
board led to a triumphant clap from Ritchie who now moves closer to the 50k mark.
--------
Dan Samson doubled up earlier, A-K v K-K, Ace on the Flop. "The rush has finally started," he claims rubbing his hands together like a mischievous Montgomery Burns.

Bad news for Vicky Coren's followers and admirers, the former EPT champion is OUT!
Holding 9-9, she committed herself on a board of
, only to find her vanquisher and owner of the best bouffant in town, Davood Mehrmand was holding an ever so slightly better T-T.
Vicky tapped the table acknowledging her opponent's superior hand, and a
and
river brought the curtain down on her London GUKPT. Good game Ms Coren.

Neil "Bad Beat" Channing has also hit the rail, his pocket snowmen no match for the A-A of his as yet unconfirmed opponent.
I'm sure he will deliver a more compelling and humourous account of his exit hand in his amusing blog but for now we say goodbye to Mr Channing and his omni-present red PV t-shirt.
Leo Kam has risen at a meteroric rate. Starting the day pretty short, he has pilfered and plundered his way back up to in excess of 100k and is playing well at this stage.

Bizarr-o Laydown Of The Day
Jeff Buffenbarger barges in and shoves on a flop that reads
.
James Sudworth thinks and thinks about it - and then folds pocket Kings! Face up! Pandemonium on the table! Particularly upset is Willie Tann. "You fold pocket Kings! Pocket Kings! I have a Nine I'm calling. Kings!!!" Buffenbarger shows A-8. Apparently Sudworth put him on a draw that we wasn't prepared to gamble against...

A gentleman who I think has an ID card that says 604 which would make him one Fran Egan - is this right? - anyway, he is on the small blind, whence he limps. Ian Cox on the big blind shoves for around 20k; Mr Small Blind thinks for a good long while, eventually passing a Deuce and, I believe, an Ace with it. Ian shows
.
"You haven't showed all your hands," pipes up someone.
"No, obviously I only show the good ones," says Ian. Obviously.

A most unusual thing - a six-way pot. Preflop, at least. That's far too many ID cards for one updater to be reading, so I shall merely tell you that Chili finally allowed them all to see a cheap flop by considerately checking the big blind, and that that flop was
.
It checks around to Anthony Phillips on the button, who bets a chunky 9100.
Brian
Johnson
and
Talal
Shakerchi
both call.
Turn -
and everyone's back to checking now.
River -
and there is some sneaky and un-sneaky checking from Johnson and Shakerchi respectively, until Phillips bets 30k. Johnson calls with
for almost the nuts, and an irked Phillips mucks.

Knockouts seem to be coming thick and fast...
Barney Boatman, the last remaining Hendon Mobster is OUT!
Christopher Nilsen is also OUT! his shortstack being forced allin blind in the BB and Johnathan Martin's A-J prevailing over the 2-3 of Nilsen, and Johnathan celebrated by requesting a massage.
Johnathan Baylis just raised from the cutoff, only to find Johnathan Martin in action YET AGAIN as he made it an additional 30k.
Baylis opted to flat call this big re-raise and the flop fell
. Martin bet enough to put Baylis in, and although he had reservations Baylis called. He looked mightily unhappy though, flipping Q-Q, only to be shown A-A in the hands of Martin. A 3 and 6 finished off the hand and a sighing Baylis collected his things and departed.
"I knew massages were lucky for me!" chirped Martin chirpily.

Mark Friedman limps on the button, and small blind Talal Shakerchi makes it 10k. Big blind Chris Rhodes calls, as does Friedman.
Flop -
- Shakerchi checks, and Rhodes shoves. Friedman gets out of the way, but Talal thinks about it for a bit. He calls, most ill-fatedly, as his
is no match for Rhodes'
.
Turn -
River -
And big-stack-through-the-whole-of-days-one-through-now Talal Shakerchi is OUT. The entire hand was conducted in absolute, stony, creepy silence. I have no idea why.
