Fantastic result Alex and what a way to start your Spanish or should I say Catalan adventure. I haven't been to Barcelona so please do get a nice appartment sorted with a seperate suite and I may visit and share a tapas. Will try and coincide with a Barca Champions League game so you can take me out for the evening. Hope it works out and you find time to update this diary........ Barcelona v Nottingham must be a tough shout.

So this is my street, with the beach at the end of it.
I walk for 15 minutes along the beach to get to the casino, it's such a nice walk. I've played most nights in the last couple of weeks, been learning PLO which has been fun. Learning Spanish as quickly as possible is going to be key to getting the most of out the whole experience I think.
Spent last week in France actually on a family holiday in the Dordogne. Very nice and relaxing. Newly married Mum was very happy with her boys

Got Mitch's wedding on saturday and since WCOOP is on and I can't play that in Barca, I thought I'd just stay in Notts this week.
Frankie organised a big night out to celebrate everyone's recent successes. Was a huge group. Usual suspects plus heroes like Wadey, Ian G, Julian, Tommy Bingham, Brodsky! It was a blast.
Yesterday was a pretty huge sunday but alas no joy, looking forward to the weeks grind, plus seeing the big man tie the knot on saturday!

Lovely photos Alex, thanks.
Must say, your brother is a very handsome young man. That is the one on the "Blue" group thing, right?

I highly recommend the Michel Thomas CDs. His method is excellent. At the end of the eight hour beginners' course you will be speaking sentences and understanding structure, tenses, etc. Listen on your walk to the casino each day - bite-size chunks.
Good luck. I'm ready to move on now to Intermediate lessons.
Barca is such a great city. Love the place.

Alex - a spot of Catalan, rather than Castellano, will make you very popular indeed. I theoretically studied it for a year, but can't remember a word I'm afraid. Have a great time out there, and make it to La Xampanyeria!

Hi Alex,
Think I will be in Barcelona next month for work, what small cash games do they have for a fish like me if I get some spare time? Also not been to the casino there for 4 or 5 years, is a passport still required to get in?
Cheers.

The smallest games is €1/2 but they aren't deep and splashy with straddles like UK games so it's a pretty small game actually. Runs 4pm-5am every day. They also have 50/1 video poker tables which are pretty bizarre, but work alright tbh.
I always take my passport because it's required for a deposit account, however I think drivers license must be fine.
