Fleche Wallone on Wednesday

Have gone with Gilbert at 14/1 which looks like great value to me.

He looked strong up the Cauberg in Amstel Gold and distanced everybody other than Matthews when he attacked.  His team look super strong and he knows how to win on the Mur so will definitely be there or there abouts at the finish.

Interesting name in the results from Amstel Gold

7th Julian Alaphilippe (Fra) Etixx - Quick-Step

Not yet 23 years old, I don't think it will be long until this guy takes a big win.

Dan Martin's best result ever in Amstel, surely that form should see a podium at Fleche & L-B-L.

wanted to be with martin here, but crash on wednesday not ideal. can never seem to catch rodriquez at the right time, so have to leave him alone. kwiat thinks valverde is a strong favourite but not sure if i can bite the bullet and take 3's on him. record on riders winning multiple times in the ardennes is good, and the new route suits. everything seems in his favour, so will grow a pair and go on him

Got Dan (pre crash) & Rodriguez (pre dip in form)  Sad

Both good enough to turn in a top performance. Optimist!

astana worked very well to try and set it up for nibali all day, who i fancied about 20km out. gutsy ride by gilbert, clearly hammpered by injury . Alaphillipe has come from nowhere to be super strong, promising future. no luck for martin again. maybes lombardia again will be his. surprised kwiat wasn't in the mix, maybe the pressure of being no.1 rider 3 times in a week was too much for him at this age. valverde peerless in that kind of finish, what a week eh, 2nd in amstel and won fleche wallone and lbl

for the giro i'm very much in the rigoberto uran camp, contador the class act but the giro-tour double is so tough, with the tour his major target will he be peaking for the giro? team is woeful form, riis left under a cloud, a bit chaotic. porte obviously crushing it at present, but as the aussie article (normally pro-porte) says can he maintain it all the way through. poor/distrurbing prep from aru, and if astana re-route nibali then its not ideal also for him when his focus is the tour. go past them in the betting and you are very thin on grand tour podium contenders. i have my doubts about whether uran has it in him to be a grand tour winner, but he was unlucky last year with the neutralised descent fiasco, and can't see him off the podium (barring accidents) so an e/w play on him looks like my play at 8/1

Tour de Romandie. I'm going against Froome & Quintana this week. I doubt both are not at 100% with the Tour still some time away. I'm thinking Uran should be a strong top 3, especially with the Giro so close. With the TTT today to get an early advantage & I can see him putting in a strong showing this week & by the final ITT should be close enough for the win or podium. 10/1 EW.

Was tempted by Spilak also, with the weather forecast, he seems to put in his best races when it's wet. But fear Katusha will struggle in the TTT.

What am I missing here? Sky price Kittel evens, no way coming back from illness. Yorkshire lad Swift must be a marginal favourite, 7/2 looks about right. 7/1 a steal!

Had a quick look at stages, & stage 3

is right in his zone. Kittel will likely struggle stay in the lead group & loose chunks of time.
