We managed to get the only taxi driver that didn't know where our hotel is, so he decided to pick up the most drunken Irishman at 3am who then proceeded to direct him to the Hilton....eventually. :D
Snoopy and I have brought in secret supplies today... Yesterday I paid €12 for two pints of coke. :o Title: Re: PokerStars Dublin EPT: Day 1B - Interactive Post by: snoopy1239 on October 27, 2006, 12:45:00 PM To view the Day 1A chip counts, please click the following link:

Two spades on the flop, JP Kelly bet his second nut flush draw and found 1 caller. Flush on the Turn and JP bets, Mateboy raises and JP calls. Mateyboy then bets 1k on the raggy River, JP makes it 3k and MB moves all-in. JP opts to fold his second nuts and MB shows the Ace of Spades. "I'm sure he had it, I would have just called the River if he'd bet a little more, but I thought I had to re-raise the 1k because it was so small," he commented. "Well, once again, I'm struggling right from the off." When asked what would Mickey Wernick do... "Grind it out," was JP's reply. Title: Re: PokerStars Dublin EPT: Day 1B - Interactive Post by: AlexMartin on October 27, 2006, 03:25:29 PM hI Snoop son, finally joined blonde.
Title: Re: PokerStars Dublin EPT: Day 1B - Interactive Post by: NoflopsHomer on October 27, 2006, 03:26:06 PM And just like that, JP has doubled up, there was a Aspades Qs Jd board and matey checked, so JP pushed with his Ts 8s assuming the board was too dangerous to trap with, matey called with Ac Qd though but a 9s came on the river.
Elsewhere Red called an UTG raise with Ac Kd and bet out the Ks Qs 7s flop but was called and slowed down with the 8s hit the turn and mucked to a bet, he was shown the Aspades Js, so the turn definately saved him although he's still down 1k or so. Sverre Sundbo just turned up in the press room, so I'm guessing he's OUT. "So you're folding" - as Vicki Coren rises from her seat. "I'll check the winning hand to you" (to Mateyboy when Dave had Rivered the straight) With the Devilfish in such high spirits, could this be the EPT where he finally shines? Perhaps, although in this photo it appears as though age is catching up with him, the ol' back muscles not what they used to be. After months of losing people money, the half Wilson makes a comeback. A gleeful Simon Trumper races over the pressroom, a Cheshire Cat grin stretched across his face as he retells his moment of Wilson joy. Simon Trumper limps on the button with 7s 4s only to hit a rather splendid flop of 5s 6s Ts. The Trumpster bets out and finds one caller. How about this for a turn? drum roll please....................... Turn = 8s Woohoo, Trumper gets out of his seat, jumps onto the table, rips off his long johns and swings them around his head shouting, "Woooooooooo, I've hit the straight flush, this pot's mone!!! Mine, all mine!!!!!!!!!!" Okay, maybe he was just doing that inside his head. Updater's license, okay?!?! Anyhow, Simon bet out 300 and Mateyboy called... again. River brings a Queen of spades and Trumper decides to pray that his opponent has the bare Ace, subsequently shoving out a rather hefty 4k. However, Mateyboy does in fact have a King of Spades, and as he hesitates, perhaps looking as though he's seriously considering the fold, Trumper jumps in with the following line... "Well, I promise you I don't have the Ace." Believing Trumper to be a man of his word, Mateyboy calls, simultaneously ignoring Trumper's experience and failing to realise that a possible straight flush draw is on the cards. So, Trumper jumps to 16k from 8, leaving a rather red faced Mateyboy to wallow in self pity, wondering why he made that call on the River. "I had to race over here to tell you this one, especially because it involved the half Wilson," added Trumper. "Actually, at one point, I even thought he might have the higher straight flush." Could he have folded to a re-raise? Title: Re: PokerStars Dublin EPT: Day 1B - Interactive Post by: snoopy1239 on October 27, 2006, 03:51:10 PM Dave will never get anyone on his site with that shirt, the web address is the wrong way round. He was dire from my personal experience, but a nice bloke. Yes, that's the one. Quite a sight, you really have to witness Ade live to understand how much of a showman he is. He's only been here for a couple of hours, but he's already started kissing his arms, announcing to the room that he loves himself, handed out one of his cards and defended his big blind with all his chips. Our hawk eyed viewers may notice that Ade had a lemon on his head. Well, bizarrely, that was put there by Roland De Wolf, but even more bizarrely, Ade didn't realise it was there for the whole of his speech, a speech that was being filmed by the rather eager film crew who will be delighted that Ade is giving their viewers some unadulterated entertainment. Not sure Ade will be too pleased though when he watches himself back. He may look a tad silly with that lemon on his bonce. And the EPT logo on the table the wrong way round? Is the poker event taking place in Bizzaro world? Must be a new fashion or something, or perhaps a way of getting some attention. What do you guys think the reason is? Really wierd, huh? It obviously works, you are talking about it... True Kev, it's all a bit wierd. It appears that some of the PokerStars gear has reversed the logo too. Look closely at the logo on Vick Coren's bust (shouldn't be too hard for our male viewers - resist Kev!) Still no idea quite why they're doing it, I know we're all talking about it and everything but surely they need people to be able to read what it says. Did he start kissing himself and announcing to the whole world "you raise my big blind and I will put you all in?" TK is a big fan! The Gentleman knows exactly how I feel about his ill-mannered comments, & he now excludes me from his "you are all liars" speech. (Which is the Ade Bayo Speech # 27). I don't have a problem with speech play, but I do think it's wrong that he's allowed to be so loud that every player in the Venue (and next door I should not wonder) is obliged to listen to him. Why do the TD's allow this? Why do other players meekly accept it? One despairs for Tournament poker's future. Off the table, he is a fine fella, quite charming actually. These comments, by the way, I have shared with Ade, & we get along just fine. Off the table. Title: Re: PokerStars Dublin EPT: Day 1B - Interactive Post by: snoopy1239 on October 27, 2006, 04:54:00 PM I joined RED-DOG's table as Tom was mulling up a tricky decision, with 10.5k already in the pot and a board of Qs 2h 9c 6h Kc, Tom was faced with a 3k with just 3,025 left in front of him.
Clearly trying to figure out if there was any chance whatsover that his lowly holding might be ahead, I could feel the steam gently seeping out of his ears as he did eventually make the fold. He knows he's behind, the table knows he's behind, but when there's so many spondoolies in the pot compared to the River bet and you're left with so little, that final fold is so much more painful. But fold he did, and although a call would have left him with a chip and a chair and a chance of creating a wonderful comeback anecdote that he could retell in years to come, he is currently on 3,025 - down but not out. Now really is the time to listen to that signature of his and ask himself, "Waht would Mickey Wernick do?..." Re-raised an early position raised from the Big Blind to 1,650 with Aces. An extra 1,200 to call, which the initial raiser did. Flop = 5h 8h 5c Not wanting to mess around and hoping that his opponet moved in with a hand like Tens or Jacks, Simon bet 2,400, a bet which his opponent called, although at one point he was even mulling up a re-raise. Turn = 9h Not a great card, but Simon, who wasn't going to pass, had the Ace of Hearts, and so moved all-in. His opponent announced, "I've got lucky here" and called with his 7d 6d. Simon still had 13 outs, but it wasn't to be as the River brought the Ks. Title: Re: PokerStars Dublin EPT: Day 1B - Interactive Post by: snoopy1239 on October 27, 2006, 06:55:58 PM Quote Simon Trumper is OUT. Re-raised an early position raised from the Big Blind to 1,650 with Aces. Remember this hand? Well Marcel Luske had 6h 7h and would have made a straight flush!! Title: Re: PokerStars Dublin EPT: Day 1B - Interactive Post by: snoopy1239 on October 27, 2006, 06:57:06 PM John Magill has lost a couple of thousand, chips that he really can't afford to lose at the moment.
The board read Ac 8c 7c Jc 8h John checked, his opponent bet 1.5k and John called. Incredibly, Mateyboy's Aspades Jh was good enough. Title: Re: PokerStars Dublin EPT: Day 1B - Interactive Post by: NoflopsHomer on October 27, 2006, 07:09:34 PM Thewy is OUT.
He was down to 3k, then ran into the button's Kings when he was in the small blind with Tens, leaving him with just 350, he then doubled up to 950 with K-Q against A-J and the possibility of a Thewy revival came into play. There was a UTG raise to 600 and a call, followed by Julian pushing for 950, with another call behind him, then the big blind pushed all in to spoil all their fun giving Jules the chance to quadruple up but unfortunately his A-Q was dominated by the A-K of the BB. A guy joins a monastery and takes a vow of silence: he’s allowed to say two words every seven years. After the first seven years, the elders bring him in and ask for his two words. "Cold floors," he says. They nod and send him away. Seven more years pass. They bring him back in and ask for his two words. He clears his throats and says, "Bad food." They nod and send him away. Seven more years pass. They bring him in for his two words. "I quit," he says. "That’s not surprising," the elders say. "You’ve done nothing but complain since you got here." "Been grinding all day, peaked at around 14k but could have been on much more, was bluffed off a 30k pot. I asked him if he'd show me and he said I wouldn't like it, but revealed K-J for a complete bluff. If I'd have called that I would have been away. I'm still in though, that's the important thing, I'm not going to just throw it away at the end of the night, I'm here to play cards." Of course, all that was in an Irish accent. River = 7h John goes into the think tank, looks like he's going to move all-in, places his lucky charm on his cards, but decided to check at the last second. Mateyboy checks behind him and Magil says begrudgingly, "You must win". He was right, but only just. Magill turns over A-T whilst Mateyboy reveals A-6 for a nice call on the Turn. I wonder if he would have had the coconuts to call the all-in though... Title: Re: PokerStars Dublin EPT: Day 1B - Interactive Post by: snoopy1239 on October 28, 2006, 01:08:13 AM Roland de Wolf has just won one of the biggest pots of the comp so far.
Action on a flop of J-9-3 (two of clubs) sees both players check an Ace of Clubs Turn. Roland then moves all-in on the red Ten River, a bet which his opponent calls after a lengthy session in the think tank. Mateyboy shows Pocket Kings (including the King of Clubs), but Roland scoops a massive pot with J-T (no clubs) and Roland is probably in the top 3 chip leaders with 80k. I haven't seen him this pleased since tikay joined his table one comp. Title: Re: PokerStars Dublin EPT: Day 1B - Interactive Post by: snoopy1239 on October 28, 2006, 01:35:11 AM Overheard some interesting comments from Ade Bayo, who was suggesting he was hurt by all the negative comments that he receives, claiming that people just don't understand the method behind his madness.
"It's not just about talking people into making mistakes, I've made 80 Gutshot finals and run well in every single one of their festivals, there's a lot more to my game than people think." He then went on to say, "What I do is listen, if people have any advice, I take it on board. When I see someone do well, I go and ask them about the game and find out how they are winning." He also went on to discuss his strategy. "I avoid the gambles, I don't want to risk all my chips in on a 60-40 shot, why do I need to? People only seem to report the hands where I make my move, when I set people up and show them rags. They don't see all those big fold I make, the Ace Queens and Pocket Pairs I lay down because I don't want to gamble. If I know the Big Blind's going to put me all-in with my Ace King, then I'll lay it down." Like Alli Mallu, Ade Bayo is somewhat of a mystery. Many question his skill, comment on his (supposed) incredible luck, but sometimes forget to evlauate his game, refusing to even try to understand how he has won so many comps. Perhaps tomorrow will give us the opportunity to do just that, or maybe, if I'm lucky, he'll let me ask a few questions so that we can delve into the murky depths of Casa Mind de Bayo. Ade has a decent game, & is an OK guy. My earlier comments stand. If he wants to be continually rude to his opponents, then he must expect a bit of criticism, some of it ill-informed. He has no more - or less - luck than any of us, his results come from having a tidy game. Such a shame he spoils it for himself, & everyone else, by being so loud, & so insulting, to his fellow players. I can deal with him repeatedly saying - as he does & has to me - "you are a LIAR" but he can hardly expect us all to be cooey-wooey to him in return. As you reap......
