Knowing the level of someone's bankroll is useless without knowing the games/limits they play and whether they play full time or are recreational etc.

Just asking for the $ value out of the blue seems like nosiness for the sake of nosiness.

My point is that if this were a poll started because it grew out of a discussion on bankrolls, or was intended to start a discussion on bankroll management then fair enough.

But this just seems like a poll for the sake of starting a poll.

I disagree.

Pounds, schillings and pence. There's no getting away from them. This info would be especially interesting to someone unfamiliar with poker.

You don't have to be specific to be nosey ;)

I like polls for the sake of polls.

It is interesting to see what kind of bankroll/players are on the forum, and i am pretty sure its not compulsory to vote, read or post on the thread.

Can we have narrower options?
Maybe a couple of levels above the $1mil?

May the investigative pursuit of social sciences pertaining to poker flourish.

Restraints placed upon polls such as these by the bankroll questionaire police on puritancal grounds serve little purpose.

Can I just clarify Nemesis before I answer?

I have just collected the combined figures for pension plans, life insurance policies, investments, my main domicile,  rented property,my collection of Panini Stickers 1978-79 (estimated value) and my Robert Varkonyi limited edition autograph on beer mat, estimated 2002

do you want these included to produce a combined figure with my poker bankroll or do you wish to start a new poill for "life bankroll"?

Your advice appreciated please

If the US dollar rate continues to fall against the pound we will all be able to choose the $1,000,000+ option if we have £10 in our accounts :)

I was going to do something similar to Tighty but with my banana collection but there's no way i can put a material value on something priceless!

you got to be kidding, please tell me that "mint condition" isnt spoiled by writing all the scores in the necessary boxes during the tournament - including "world cup record" after Hungary beat El Salvador 10-1 in the group stages

my collection of Panini Stickers 1978-79 (estimated value)

Damn, I needed just John Robertson to complete the set.

By the end of the season I was offering 200 swapsys for one John Robertson but noone and I mean noone in my school had Robbo. And my Mum wouldn't let me send off for him. (Dunno why not)

So I drew a little picture of him in the book  :'(

Doubt my collection is worth £800.

When I was at my Panini peak (84/85) John Barnes was absolute gold dust - no one had him. We all thought they'd deliberately not printed any of him just to annoy us.

Meanwhile, we were all able to wallpaper our bedrooms with Tim Breacker (should we have wanted to).

Oh happy days.

Do you remeber going through fistfuls of stickers saying "gotit, gotit, gotit, Neeeeeeeeeeeeeeedit, gotit, gotit."?

And was there an exchange rate at your schools?

Rare Arsenal and Spurs (Chipper Brady or Steve Perryman) players were worth more than rare Middlesrough or Aston Villa players (Graeme Souness with a huge afro or Gordon Cowans).

I'm pretty certain my copy of World Cup 82 (complete) has the scores written in.  Got a full Football 83 one (which was the year they did 'full length' pics, not the headshots) and my Football 82 set is one sticker short after Panini failed to send the Sheffield Wednesday badge with the last 50 sticker request.

I find it immensely fascinating that I can remember all this, and yet have long forgotten things from last week!

Nowadays, even the sticker books have been ruined as a hobby.  Half the stickers have the kits blanked out due to exclusivity issues.  Its just not the same anymore!

Thinking back, one of the great ironies of the Panini era was that in the World Cup issues, the minnow teams like El Salvador, etc had the 2 players to a page stickers on them, which is exactly what they did with the Scottish Premier League in the league versions!

:redcard: ;tracet;

Not in the Scottish Ones. I couldn't be bothered with them, collected the Celtic, then the rangers and assorted others who'd annoyed me (Miller, McLeish, Rougvie, Strachan) for the dartboard.

I remeber collecting one year, getting 15 Mark Hately swaps.

Had lots of fizzy pop one day, decided to give up on the album, and see how many Mark Hateleys I could collect.

3 other local Primary schools knew that there was a guy collecting Mark Hatelys and I would swap 20 stickers for one. I'd have a kid in each of them middle manning it for me.

It was a big campaign, it had energy to it. We got over 350 of them in the end.

To this day, whenever I move house, at the bottom of at least one box there always seems to be a Mark Hately. Every time this happens, I'm reminded of what an ugly mother f**ker he really was.

I've almost forgot I used to smoke - truly! (Chili too).

It has to be said, that book you sent me by Mr Carr was simply the worst written book I've ever read, but by golly, he got the message home, & I can honestly say quitting the ciggies was 100% totally stress free, it was easy-peasy. Sadly, poor (?) Mr Carr died recently - of lung cancer, of all things. Oh, the irony.

Do I feel better for it? Hmm. I SMELL better, I guess, & I certainly sleep better - I have sleeping sickness, I can't get enough kip, which is a bad thing, as it's so time-consuming.

But mainly, it's the freedom I like. I don't have to make sure I always have fags with me when I go out, carry them around, "pop out for a gasper" between hands in poker tourneys, or stand outside in the cold when I'm in the office & "smoke-break" time arrives every hour.

I said, when I quit, that I'd start again at Christmas - maybe - so decision time is looming.......

My bankroll is like some strange green alien life-form that is trying to conquer the earth.

Under constant attack from earthling females who seek to deplete it's meagre reserves, unable to sustain itself or reproduce, it lurks in dark corners, where it licks it's wounds and waits for an opportunity to prey on the weak and venerable.

Nemsis,

Don't really know you that well, but I am stunned that you started again after 3 years. Come on mate, get that book finished and get back off the cigarettes as quickly as possible. You more than anyone knows it makes sense.

Don't want to ask what made you start again, but whatever it was, did it actually help the situation? No.

Get back on track, don't fall into the trap.

Cheers,

Eoan

Well when I was a 7 year old in primary school, my maths teacher told me that you round things up to the nearest 1, 0.5 and above - if you know what I mean! :-p

Would be odd if this was a cross section of all poker players.

5 people with a roll over 750,000, and 5 losers.

Well, there does come a point where you have to look at your game ::)

Had a feeling either you or snoppy would want it :D

We had a draw in the pub once a few years back and the first prize was a wembley ticket for V***a v Man U in the league cup? final.
It was won by a bluenose who was promptly offered £100 for it, needless to say he set fire to it there and then, the looks on the V***a fans faces will always be one of my fondest memories right up there with the kids births :D

You could argue that the losing players are just as likely to be in the $750K+ bankroll as anywhere else.  If you had that much income to throw at poker, perhaps being a 'winning player' has less interest to you than 'the gamble' of being involved.

I can imagine that would feel good. Would love to do it myself but the nostrils only get to a cup final once every fifty years, so won't get many chances in my lifetime.
Oh well we will have to make do with sending you down again next year.

Keep right on......

p.s. i didn't vote because its none of your business ;) Its anonymous!

Primate rule number 1: Trust no-one

i don't know that someone isn't using some kind of fancy IP address tracer to match peoples votes to the IP addresses of forum posts - then by using a complex series of hacking techniques and password bypassing programmes logging into peoples online poker accounts and playing a series of $10000 heads up matches with "nemesisbot".......

dang, really need to see someone about this over active imagination and paranoia  ;hide;

Just because you're paranoid... it doesn't mean that there's no one after you!!  ;scarymoment;

For me,

Eric Gates
Davie Dodds
Paul Mariner

and more recently (me and some mates started on the 94/98/02 World Cup books for old times sake)...

Ivanov (Bulgaria defender)
...
