Title: Reverse Sheep game Part IV
Post by: cdw1111 on March 11, 2009, 02:32:28 PM
I  think this game may have run it's course however i feel honour bound to put some questions for the few diehards who wish to carry on.It will run by Roberts rules no changes, any objections must have links.

   Rules

There are 11 questions, PM me your answers to them by SATURDAY 14TH MARCH 21.00 GMT, each answer on a different line with corresponding question number.

Your score for each question is number of people who give the same correct answer. So you want to go for answers that you think will be less commonly given. Levelling commonly happens. The answer most commonly given is called the sheep, with the corresponding sheep score.

You are not allowed to do research such as Google searches to come up with answers.  Those who do will be spotted by the other contestants and no doubt pointed out. Such villains will have it on their conscience and will have to devise a way of purging their sins. (http://blondepoker.com/forum/index.php?topic=40356.msg907376#msg907376)

If you give an incorrect answer, you will receive the sheep score + one half the number of distinct correct answers given, rounded up.

You MUST pass on one, and only one, question and score a 0 for that question.

Any questions, post in this thread. Don’t expect a straight answer.

Please note the last entry date as i will be revealing the scores on the following Sunday at 6pm as i have work commitments on the Tuesday.Hopefully the whole quiz will be completed on the same day.

questions a few posts down.

Are you joking? Each week there are more entrants, the last thread was 70+ pages long. This will carry on until a quiz master Fs up, don't let it be you, no pressure ;)

I like the existentialist approach to this week's quiz - make up our own questions and answer those.

Should make for some interesting objections.

I think it's asking for a plane that has been part of the BA fleet at any time in its history.  Alternatively, the answers plane and helicopter might be the only two that are correct and FOL.

cdw1111 used the same phrase as I, why did you choose to truncate his? I suggest, "Sir", you are trying to quote in a manner that will suit your case but are willing not to give the full context. Quiet objectional behaviour. Issue is also taken that you quote your own comment and expect us to treat this as binding, when, as we all know, your quiz, and it's rules, lost any plausibility after your Hippo ruling.

....

cdw1111 used the same phrase as I, why did you choose to truncate his? I suggest, "Sir", you are trying to quote in a manner that will suit your case but are willing not to give the full context. Quiet objectional behaviour. Issue is also taken that you quote your own comment and expect us to treat this as binding, when, as we all know, your quiz, and it's rules, lost any plausibility after your Hippo ruling.

a. I did that quote quite quickly - any differences were accidental byproducts of not taking enough time and no inferences should be implied.
b. c o m m i t t e e ruling - this is an individual query, so completely different.

Save all this until others have chucked in their answers, if you alert them to an issue you are giving those who have already submitted their efforts a huge disadvantage.

PS

I was going to say that this is likely to be the worst quiz yet but dino's wasn't bad, and mine was unsuppassable. I reckon your on for 2nd or 3rd best, impossible to do worse than that.

You have a point. The object it seems is a test of brinkmanship, the person who comes second is the true winner.

I  think this game may have run it's course however i feel honour bound to put some questions for the few diehards who wish to carry on.It will run by Roberts rules no changes, any objections must have links.

   Rules

There are 11 questions, PM me your answers to them by SATURDAY 15TH MARCH 21.00 GMT, each answer on a different line with corresponding question number.

Please note the last entry date as i will be revealing the scores on the following Sunday 6pm as i have work commitments on the Tuesday.Hopefully the whole quiz will be completed on the same day.

Objection to UK.  The question asked for a country.

I'd like you to find a definition of a country that the UK doesn't fit into.

Find me the UK national football team then.

[  ] relevant

Show me a country that doesn't have a national football team.

King's written 48 million books (approx). Why choose one that some people might not consider to be a novel?

Level 3.8 thinking IMO.
who doesnt consider it a novel?
spelling mistake end of

It was directed at Kin.

But out the 48 million you could have chosen one you could spell the name of.

maybe i cant spell any of em

Objection to London Underground question!

I've been developing my logical reasoning, based on previous questions, and I'm pretty sure that it's correct to say that since the London Underground isn't completely in London, none of these lines are actually part of the London Underground...

Slip isn't a position, it's 1st slip etc, as you allowed as aces for those.

Bit like asking for proof that something doesn't exist innit... Bowler just isn't a position, like umpire isn't a position, or the stumps aren't a position. You can't say to someone, "can you go to bowler please... no, just a couple of yards deeper..."

Why is Eagle, hawk and Falcon a fail and Kite a pass?
Kite is a specfic bird, red kite is an indian bird of prey

So kite is specific and red kite isn't?  Errrrr, huh?

But you can't have "owl" as an answer, because you can't have "eagle". You can't whale when whales aren't accepted. Obvious.

Looks like I just got home in time.

What's wrong with a Hawk? Try telling a sparrow with his head eaten off that the Hawk wasn't a bird of prey.

Oh and the aircraft question is a farce. I said 747 so that and 777 should've been sheep.

One more thing. Have I got the record for most sheep ever? About 6 I think.

Every different species of Kite has something in front of it eg Black Kite, red Kite etc etc

Normally I would object, I got forced to do it, but you have the best possible reason to swerve it.

I suggest mondatoo :)

Ok - I have 2 objections having trawled through a million pages of farce.

1. I spent a week in Rio De Janeiro two years ago and at no point did I know I was in Brazil. I thought Rio was a country. You cannot blame me for the lack of tourist information available at the resort.

2. Falcon is a bird of prey   http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Falcon  I quote 'Compared to other birds of prey, the fossil record of the falcons is not well distributed in time' etc etc .

That is all.

I've just caught up having spent most of Sunday in bed with a headache so bad my head must have been close to exploding (wasn't even a hangover, FML), how the fck is Shetland not a British Island?

Actually. I don't care that much. Mid-table mediocrity FTW.

It's not uncommon for people to learn a tiny bit of another language before visiting a country. Hello and goodbye are usually among the first phrases learnt. Along with yes and no, please and thank you.

Having said that, Ironside obv googled as he goes to Butlins every year.
