Bit like asking for proof that something doesn't exist innit... Bowler just isn't a position, like umpire isn't a position, or the stumps aren't a position. You can't say to someone, "can you go to bowler please... no, just a couple of yards deeper..."

He's asked for a position on the field - NOT a fielding position. 2 different things imo.

Eh? "Bowler" isn't a position however you look at it. Where is "bowler"? Wherever the bowler happens to be..?

Question clearly means fielding position - don't think you'd get away with eg "middle of the pitch".

bowler's always on these diagrams cos otherwise scots would get well confused when trying to understand the game. please note that in the example you provide the little dot representing our hero is a different colour. I don't know what that proves but please note it anyway

Er... no they aint. They're people who tend to stand in a certain place, not names or descriptions of positions.
