Back by popular demand I have been coerced into doing an RSQ

I have no idea of the rules, so anyone is in with a chance of winning. If you register your interest before Saturday you get a bonus (minus) point

There are 12 questions.

PM me your answers by Noon on Monday 26th March.

The reveal will take place at 7.30pm  on Tuesday 27th march this thread.


Your score for each question is the number of people who give the same correct answer. The answer most commonly given is called the sheep, with the corresponding sheep score.  If you score the only ACE (an ace being a correct answer which no-one else submits) in any round, you will receive  1 point for that round.

You are not allowed to do research such as Google searches to come up with answers, and you are not allowed to ask others for help with your answers.  Remember, you are only cheating yourself (and your illustrious peers).

If you give an incorrect answer, you will receive the sheep score + 5 points

You MUST pass on one, and only one, question and you will receive a score of 0 for that question.


Objections will be considered during the reveal but I will try to keep the process short and as painless as possible.


The lowest aggregate score after the 12 rounds will win. In the event of a tie a quick fire tie breaker will be ultised

2. Name a newspaper printed at least 5x per week
3. Name a formula 1 team in the 2012 Championship (sponsor name not required).
4. Name one of the girls mentioned in the song "Mambo No. 5"
5. Name a music act to have a number 1 in 1996
6. Name a poker player with a HMDB entry who lives in Leeds and has a blonde account
7. Name a property in Monopoly to which you can add a house or hotel
8. Name a Grand National winner since 1992 (incl)
9. Name a premiership football ground
10. Name a vodka
11. Name a French fashion, perfume or makeup house
12. Name a letter of the alphabet not utilized in this question?  (your score will be added to its scrabble value)

How do you define a material? Could it be what a component is made of, or is it the component? Depending on how you look at it, it could be either, but I could also see either being objected to and ruled incorrect as it is 'obviously' the other. Is a unit acceptable as a material?

I think the sand example in the Q is guidance enough. I mean you could say electrons and protons and not be wrong if you take it to the nth degree. A finished material.

My Grand National winner may have been before 1992 but can't think of another one and some of the others are the obvious answer cos I don't know any others. With luck, everyone will go for the unexpected ones and leave me a clear run on the favourites.

Excellent strategy - have a go at the QM and then screw up your entry. Even worse, receive a gracious pm from the QM offering a second attempt. Done, ta. It might be the difference in keeping me off the bottom, though prob not.

As we cannot google, I can tell you now, there are 2 questions (4, & 5) which I have absolutely no idea of the answer. If I get either correct, you can disqualify me for cheating, as I don't have a clue.

I think you have 2 options:

1. Just punt on a girls name for Mambo number five
2. Listen to radio 2 for the next week and hope they say something like "who would have thought that was 16 years ago today!" 1996 was purposefully chosen as a year people could take meaningful guesses at, whilst giving those with a musical advantge chance to shine.

Finally, an incorrect answer scores you sheep +5 - so if you really dont know, then tactically you should go for the one which you believe will provide the widest spread of answers and therefore a lower sheep score

Hidden bonuses are so non de-rigeur. In a 2009 RSQ scandal, much opprobrium was heaped on the QM and no good came of it

As far as I can make out there's an answer to one of the questions that was so obscure that it was worth -5 points.

No-one got it so everyone now has the chance to submit their guess as a bonus answer with a correct guess being worth -2 points.

if you have two very similar answers that you judge are so similar as to make no odds, you "whale" them and combine the scores (ie its worse for the players)

It's a lowercase. When the name is a single letter I think it pretty important that it is in the right case. Therefore if anyone submitted "I" I object to it and my answer should not be whaled. That is if anyone did that of course :)

It's not a mixer though, at least not in the sense of something such as say a vodka and coke. You can't just put some skittles in a glass, pour in vodka, and serve. You have to give it time to let it infuse. The end result is a different drink. Mixers also generally means to add another liquid?

In the cold light of day I'm starting to think I may have been set up here. Don't know how I've won this with a wrong answer and so many sheep scores.
