Fri 6th September    5:00 pm    Day 1b    Late Reg until 1.20am

Sat 7th September    2:00 pm    Day 1c    Late Reg Until 10.20pm

Playing 14 levels of 40 minutes in Day Ones, 30,000 starting chips

Min cash is £600


RE-ENTRY:  "+ 1 Same Day Re-Entry" and "Next Day Re-Entry" is permitted i.e. Players can Re-Enter once on the same day within the late reg period for live Day 1's AND/OR Re-Enter into all future Day 1's.

Players who make Day 2 more than once will have their chip stacks Merged. If you make Day 2 but feel that your chip stack is too small, you still have the option to re-enter into any future Day 1's without forfeiting this chipstack i.e. the option to attempt to merge your stack. For example, if you make it through the Online Day 1a but on the last hand of level 14 you get your AA busted and are left with a shortstack of 20,000 - just 5 BB's , and you decide to play Friday Day 1b live at the Club and this time you make Day 2 with 240,000 chips, you will start Day 2 with a stack of 260,000 chips, but if you busted Day 1b - you will start with your original 20,000 chips

A mahoosive 41 players so far, nicely spread over 5 tables to make the place look open.

14 levels of 40 minutes. 85 played the online leg last night with 21 through. I'm expecting a lot more people rolling up as work finishes, or once they realise it's no longer a 7pm start.

As an aside, just like to brag a won a Golden Chip for the Grand Prix. Irrelevant to today, but hey.

Tim Blake has just entered the building with Jon Kalmer.

Tim has fully recovered now from his stroke, but tells me he has now become anorexic, and has Alzheimers

Anyway, he is predicting 120 entries by the end of play today. I predict he won't start shaving for at least another year.

Mad Turk, Birmingham's most modest player, and Albert Sapiano - London Honey Magnate - are on the same table, which could lead to an interesting evening.

Turk loves to bluff, while Albert loves to not believe. Someone is going to stack someone very soon, but it could go either way. Either way they choose to play, between them they have amassed $673K in winnings on the Hendon Mob, so they may well still be here on Sunday.

Fogarty bets 2100. Tom makes it 5700.Fogarty calls.

Turn is  Kh

Fogarty ships it all across the line, 14K, slap bang in the middle and sits back.

Tom sighs and starts to think. Now I know I can be prone to exaggeration - I've said it a million times - but he seriously tanked for over 6 minutes.

Bear in mind I've already seen his cards when he peeked another look and to me it's a snap call. I would have called before Fogarty's chips had even hit the deck. I would have called before Fogarty even said he was all in. A snap call - basically that's me being impartial and sitting on the fence.

I havent been to Ross patman's table for a while, but last I did he was tabling KJ on the river of an Ace high board.

He did not win the hand.

I've just popped back in time to see him tabling  Ad Tc on the river of a Queen high board.

He did not win.

Last hand before the break Lee shiny head Fish doubles up to 70K!

 Three limpers and he makes it 2600 on the button with that classic button hand,  4d 6d.  Two callers, one of them Fred Wise.

Dealer obligingly flops out  Kd 6s Qd


Fred checks to Lee who bets out 5100, Fred clicks it back to 12K.

Lee shoves his stack across the line and Fred makes a quick call with a set of sixes.

Blank turn but a low diamond on the river and Lee is up to 70K. Fred down to a bowl.

Lol. I voted twice but for the same cakes, don't know if the second one will count or not. They do look good.

Ross Patman is dealt  Ad Kd on the button. He's already caused uproar at the table as he wasn't sat down when the cards were dealt and ran back to his seat to stop his hand being mucked, and some of the players aren't happy.

He raises the unopened pot and is called by Seat one,Marvin Lee, his new friend who he has been chatting to at the bar during the break.

A little slice of poker heaven falls on the flop in the shape of  Qd Js Th

Marvin bets straight out - even nicer - and Ross does the whole "sigh I was beating you pre" call.

Turn is a low diamond, giving him more outs, although I'm doubting he needs them having flopped the nut straight.

Marvin picks up a chunk of purple 5K chips and plonks them over the line.

Ross counts his stack and has precisely 10K more than the 30K bet and happily gets them all in.

Marvin groans and says "Oh no I have to call", and does so, turning over 89 off for the bottom end of the straight and precisely zero outs.

Ross is bouncing round like Tigger on phet.

Talking to myself for ten hours straight - it's just like being married, but without any messy sheets.

Turk is on 170K.

He asked me who the chip leader is - I asked him why he wanted to know as it wouldnt make a bit of difference to his game, and he replied he just wanted to know how many Albert Sappiano had as he wants to take them all.

You'd assume Albert was out of sight for him to ask this wouldn't you?

No. Albert is sat practically side by side to Turk, on the next table and clearly withnin earshot.

Albert incidentally has about 150K.

Blonde Matt H makes it 2200 with pocket fives: Fred Wise shoves 14800 with A 10.

Matt makes the call and sees a flop of  Qc Js 4c 7c 7d with no help for Fred who exits the Deepstack, leaving 67 players.

He still has another hour if he wants to re-enter though

We need 415 players in total to make the gte on this comp and at the moment have had about 204 including yesterdays online leg.  Some way to go tomorrow but I've a feeling DTD will make it.

Just checking if anyone is actually reading..

I am

Colin Young raises in the cut off, leaving himself about 18K behind.

Tom Rutter puts him all in, Colin obliges and tells me to stick around as he's about to go out.

Tom  turns over pocket nines, and Colin flips pocket Kings.

Quite surprised it wasn't Aces actually - he doesnt have the widest range.

Despite a sweat on the turn of a board reading 8 8 3 10.. the river was a King to double Colin up to to 54K.

He's still below the average of 70k but Col is one of these players who manages to nurse a short stack through the bubble on a regular basis, 54 K here is not unlike being chip leader for him.

Yeah but you only looked twice cos you thought that was an aerial shot of you and Tim Blake ;)

Looking like the current chip leader is Richard Pearson on table 35 with over 240K.

He's quite vociferous, particularly at this moment in time as he tells Luigi Sibillo how he played the last hand wrong. Always good to hear constructive criticism to help you improve your game of course, just not always appreciated from the person you donated your chips to.


I look forward to a clash between him and the Mad Turk.

Stephen Ayres has a mountain of chips and is seriously contemplating a call after anon shoves 14K on Ste's BB.

Eventually he sigh folds  8c 9c and Anon shows KK.

Another player pipes up, yeah clubs have been hitting, no way should you have folded.

During the last break Sinem has filled me in  on her night so far.

She's gone from 10k to 100K by "playing every hand"

It's not an unheard of strategy I have to say, and working well for many others.

She initially lost her stack when she flopped the nuts flush, all in on flop against the other guy's top pair only for him to turn trips and river a full house.

So after tilting playing every hand she then raised with  Ahrt Th and calmly called a 3 way all in, vs pocket sevens and AK to flop a Royal Flush draw, and river the nut flush.

Now has her tournament head on again. (for the benefit of her sponsors if they are reading this)

Turk is quiet for now, but I'm sure he'll find his voice once he takes a pot.

Okay I'm trying to solve some tech issues with photo sharing, but as I sit here smacking my laptop with a rolled up copy of the DTD schedule, I've heard six shouts of man down already! However,  four out of the six bustouts has already re-entered so numbers are already looking positive for Rob Yong.

Oh my ears, Ryan must have drawn these two together deliberately: Will Kassouf and RastaFish sat side by side, with Rasta having position. That's if position could ever apply here.

Same table has Blonde Maria Chilli on it, Dom mahoney and Paul Romain.


Rasta looks ready to slap Will already, but I'm pretty sure that won't be the first time.

Will raises pre, 2.5 bgs, and as Rasta picks up his chips, Will starts the machine gun monotone that could alienate him from his own mother.

"Oh he's gonna raise, here he goes, rasta gonna raise, oh hang on he's just calling, why are you calling why arent you raising what are you doing, any more fish oh yes heres another one calling, come on the fish anymore fish..."

Gary checks, Will bets 425 accompanied by a stream of chatter about how he's betting his ace and rasta is calling to rep the ace. Rasta does indeed call, as does Gary.

Minimal betting on the turn  4d with maximum talking, the river is a  9d, which Gary checks first to act.

Will just can't bring himself to bet - he might be the biggest fool when it comes to trash talking but he's wise enough to know he's not winning this pot, and starts to say how he can't bet his missed flush against Gary's ace, and he knew he had an ace all along. Rasta checks and no one wants to table a hand to claim the pot!

Will tells Gary to turn over his Ace, Gary asks the dealer if he has to show first as the river was checked by all, and the dealer says he does, so he obligingly turns over  Kd 8d for the flush!

Rasta and Will start to bicker over who was ahead, Rasta shows a Queen and insists he was winning, while Will declares he had A2. Rasta tells him to show, Will again says, I had A2, and flips over  2s - "See?"

This doesn't faze Khadir who immediately says call!

He still has 80K behind so it's not a tournament decision, but for the other players with averge 30K stacks, it's a bit scarier and they fold.

Rahim turns over top two pair,  Ahrt 5d and Khadir shows  3s 6s, chasing a flush.

Flush duly arrives on the turn, but it's unfortunately the  5s which of course gives Rahim the boat.

This is Dave Mitchell & Dennis Troache from Liverpool.

They went to Galway recently for a poker tournament.

Dave doesn't use computers so asked Dennis to sort out the travel bookings.

They arrived at the wrong airport and had to hire a car for a 4 hour drive across ireland to Galway, and were worried they might be too late.

Been talking to Stu Rutter as he folds for about an hour, finally makes a 2k raise UTG from his 14K stack.

Player next to him immediately slides his 20K over the line.

Just stood behind Tom Langley and watched him take a decent pot down.

Tapped him on his shoulder and said "Tom how many have you got now" only to trail off as he turned round and I realised it was actually Tom langley's back double.
