Post by: allym on February 20, 2006, 11:50:46 AM nah not Bairds! The middle of the Gallowgate should suffice, between all of the 'traditional' pubs i.e. Hoops, Bar 67, Bairds and The Emerald! Especially after Shebeen have been in! Recipe for disaster! Heres me projecting possible grissly ends for Mr.AndrewT when its bang out of order for any blondite!

Title: Re: Blonde Bash....Dress Code? Post by: AndrewT on February 20, 2006, 12:02:13 PM I would like to thank my Caledonian cousins for the warm welcome they have extended to this mere Sassenach.
Whilst I am not of that persuasion, I feel touched by the offers of Glasgow kisses which have been forthcoming :) Seriously, though, I am sure that not all the residents of Glasgow are drunk, sectarian, dunderheads. It seems to me you sent all those down to London many years ago. Title: Re: Blonde Bash....Dress Code? The area you are thinking of has to be Craigmiller and yes its a council estate in Edinburgh. A VERY rough area (at least it was when I was a child). You were lucky to get out alive Bundle. My parents split up when I was 8 and my mother was given a council house on this estate...what a shock to the system that was. I learnt very quickly that it was survival of the fittest and boy could I run :D Reminds me of when I went up to Edinburgh to visit my sister with my English boyfriend. She lived in Granton (for those of you that know Edinburgh) another very rough estate. His face was a picture when he saw where she lived, he was convinced his car would be a burnt out shell by the morning. First stop for an ex pat is the CHIPPY....mmmmmmmm mince pie supper. He was a bit reluctant to go with me but I insisted. Inside the chippy while waiting in the queue I asked him what he wanted and he justs shrugged. You have to tell me what you want I said, so he points to a piece of fish. Salt and sauce I ask..he shakes his head. Turns out he was terrified to speak with his English accent coz he thought he would get beaten to a pulp. That was the only weekend in our 5 year relationship that he didn't go to the pub rotflmfao rotflmfao rotflmfao Title: Re: Blonde Bash....Dress Code? Please do not ask for "Salt and Sauce" in a glasgow chip shop. That is more likely to get you a kicking than an english accent. And that will just be from the shop owner...
