Think this would take a while for ever so....

Charlton's Shaun Bartlett in 2004, scoring twice and providing a goal for Jerome Thomas in the 3-2 win at Tottenham before being dismissed.

Mark Viduka scored and set up Alan Smith in a 3-2 win for Leeds over Leicester at the end of the 2003/04 season, before picking up a second yellow in the last minute for kicking the ball away.

Bobby Zamora, then of West Ham, who scored, assisted and was then sent off with the Hammers leading 3-2 at home to Fulham in January 2007.

Marc-Antoine Fortune helped West Brom to a 3-0 win at Southampton in 2013 with a goal and assist, but was given a straight red along with Gaston Ramirez with the score at 2-0 in the 70th minute.

Charlie Austin for QPR against Burnley in Dec 2014.

Since 1979 three players have won queens club ( Wimbledon warm up grass court event) and also won a grand slam during their career but not won Wimbledon. Can you name all three?

This one stumped a fair few decent tennis judges tonight in a tough pub quiz.  I thought it was pretty straight forward. Interested to see how many others get it on blonde.

Women don't use queens as a warm up tournament so can't be them.

Definitely lendl and I'd throw Andy roddick into the ring.  Stuck on a 3rd but it could be cilic as DB said

Another tennis question to keep you occupied:

In the Open era only 3 defending champs in the Mens Grand Slams tournaments have lost in the 1st round the following year.   Rafter (US Open).  Becker (AUS Open).  Hewitt (Wimbledon).

All three shock victors went on to have solid top 50 careers (in one case a top 10 career).

Name the 3 winners.

Great question.  Fair play to anyone who knows the answer to that.  I just googled it and wouldn't have remembered any of the 3 games in question.

Closely enough that I think the question is meant to be EPL, La Liga and Serie A, not Bundesliga?

Now looking at the German and Spanish wiki pages...

Amazing that there were only 4 hattricks in Germany in the 3 seasons between 13/14 and 15/16. EPL was 25+ in the same period.

My guess is that it's timed to coincide with the prize money payments for the season just ending.  Last season, Villa will have received prize money based on their finish position.  This year, at the equivalent time, they'll get a parachute payment.

No idea but it isn't him.

He signed for this club in December 1989 for £800k.  Other clubs he played for during his career were QPR, West Ham, Newcastle, Derby and Ipswich.

that might be Malcolm Allen? but he is not Millwall or Barnsley's record signing

think the question,as framed, might be wrong

Goddard is correct per my source on twitter.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Millwall_F.C._records_and_statistics

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_Goddard

Not sure when Malone was signed but the above still have Goddard as the record signing.

I think the question is right?
It's the clubs longest standing record signing, not their current record signing. Goddard was their record signing for 20+ years.
1 cap, 1 goal. Better record than Pele, that lad :)

I don't know the answer to this one but what is the biggest change in league position in two seasons without being relegated/promoted in the first? Reading finished 3rd in the Championship last year and are having a good go at finishing in the bottom 3 this year.

Has any team done 3rd to last?

Leeds went from winning the league to finishing 17th just a couple of points off relegation.

It was the 4-4 game vs Liverpool at Anfield. Liverpool were going for league iirc.  Incredible game. Liverpool battered them, and i think Arshavin's goals were the only efforts on goal that Arsenal had all game.

SAF took United through 24 games at the start of the 2010/11 season.
Liverpool under Brendan Rodgers in their ‘nearly’ season

Wonder how many managers in EPL history have had 12 game unbeaten runs at any stage of their career?

Quite a few

Wenger had a 49 match run
Mourinho at United managed a 25 game streak in his first season. (Too many draws)
SAF took United through 24 games at the start of the 2010/11 season.
Liverpool under Brendan Rodgers in their ‘nearly’ season
Conti at Chelsea

There are more

Bruno Fernandes has been directly involved in 13 goals in his first 10 Premier League games for Manchester United (seven goals, six assists); the joint-most of any player in their first 10 appearances in the competition.  Who is the other player?

This is a brutal question and you will pretty much only get it straight away if you read the article i found it in if you did don't spoil the fun.  Tal knows the answer already because i tested him in a chat group last night.   Clues will be available after a while if no one gets it.  This should help get the monthly post count up so it doesn't hit a record low this month!

Is it Harry Kane? He certainly burst onto the scene and forced his way into Poch's team.

Ten players have scored a hat trick on the first day of the seaason since the EPL started.   Can you name them?  As a side issue one club has two players can you name the club?  Only two players were between 1998-2018 just to make it slightly easier out of the ten.
