Aussie Rules

At the risk of getting shot down, our top 8 bet for GWS  is going well. 6 wins out of 8 puts us in a strong 4th place. Tough games coming up but they are in good form. Off to Vegas now so shall check in with the bet at end of June. Good luck to all going to Vegas!!

Dont get the negativity on this site. Good on you for backing the Swans in play. Unfortunately we dont have that option in SA. For what its worth i bet big on Collingwood and Crows this weekend and also have Port in a treble, and also have watched many many years of AFL.  I thought it was a good start for an outside bet but what the hell

Aussie Rules

Good start for GWS bet to make the top 8. Tough win against St Kilda. Dont know if any of you watch AFL (no yellow or red cards here, tough game and very exciting). Essendon were 40 points up and out of sight against Sydney Swans but an unbelievable final quarter saw the Swans end up winning.

Dont know what to make of New Zealand and Australia's chances after today. Both sides showed such batting frailties on a superb batting pitch. Still think Australia have more in the tank than New Zealand now Clarke is back. India seem better prepared for this than most and now SA seem to be getting into gear their next game will be telling.

ICC world cup

Down here you can bet on virtually anything to do with the world cup. Indeed sportsbet have over 60 markets per game. The one that interests me is the first ball of the match. Dot ball 1.30, 1 run 4.20, 2 runs 21.00, 3 runs 67.00, 4 runs 14.00, 6 runs 67.00, wide 15.00, no ball 67.00, bye/leg bye 34.00, wicket 41.00.

I highly doubt many first balls will go for 6, but the two i find appealing are no ball 67.00 and wicket 41.00.

This is not a recommendation as unsure if you have this market in UK, but i have had a number of singles/doubles in various matches for no ball first ball, and others with wicket first ball.

ICC World Cup

I think that Chris Gayle at 30/1 is big for an each way bet for top batsman. West Indies face UAE , Ireland and Zimbabwe in group B and i think big scores for Gayle in these games are a big possibility. India's attack looked nothing special recently over here, and if the West Indies turn up as a team they could finish runners up in the group. As far as top bowler goes, Morne Morkel always bowls well here and might be worth a shout at 15/1. Speculative 5 pounds each way on both. Going to be a great competition.

Brownlow Medal 2015

The Brownlow medal is for the Aussie rules "best and fairest" player over the season and voted for by the umpires of each game. Perennial favourite is the darling of the AFL Gary Ablett who won in 2013, and would probably have won again in 2014 but for injury. Fitness is everything about this game. With the new season looming and teams stepping up their training, Gary is still only in light training and may have another injury prone season. Of the top 15 last season, 14 were midfielders. So who to punt on. I thought Joel Selwood was unlucky not to win last season and may be worth a try at 12/1. Another worthy of an outside bet is Travis Boak at 30/1. Suggest a 5 pound win on each of them.

Australia v India 2nd test

I doubt this game will end in a draw, and India at 3.6 to win seems a good price. Australia's bowling looked poor yesterday and 2 of them are now carrying injuries, so i believe they will face a big score in the 4th innings to win. Australia's batting to save a game is dramatically weakened without Michael Clarke. I suggest 20 pounds India to win. Good luck

Cardinals v Rams

I know nothing about American football, though do watch the occasional match. One of the betting sites i use here in Aus is offering money back bet on 1st touchdown scorer if they score sometime in the game. As the odds for all players are over 10 in this market, i wouldnt mind having a 100 dollar spin. Any of you guys think any of the players is highly likely to score? Thanks for your suggestions.   geoff

AFL 2015

I have been looking at next season's Aussie Rules. I know its a little early but there may be an opportunity here. It is very tough for an outside team to make the final 8, but Port Adelaide have shown its possible with the right setup, and came very close to making the Grand Final last season. The top 6 teams will be odds on and will definately be in the final 8, leaving two places to find. Usual suspects will be Adelaide Crows, Richmond, West Coast and Essendon, but the team that catches my eye as young, improving, good coaching team are the Greater Western Sydney Giants. They have recently gained a couple of experienced players, but also have 3 of the first 7 selections in next months AFL Draft. A speculative bet then would be 20 on GWS Giants to make the last 8 in the AFL. Should be able to get 8.0 or better

Aussie Rules

Well for those that watched it, the Hawthorn/Port Adelaide game almost went to script with Port's fitness the main factor in the last 10 minutes and almost snatching it at the death. Next season they will be a stand out bet to make the finals. The grand final now is between the two stand out teams with little to choose between them.  Only thing is i think whoever wins it will be by a small margin.  Perhaps a small bet might be to find the best player. Sydney are a team of superstars and all their front men will score, but if Hawthorn are to win then they will need Jarryd Roughead to have a massive game (scored 6 goals against Port Adelaide). Perhaps 5 quid on him to win the Norm Smith medal at 15/1. Good luck.

Aussie Rules

Port Adelaides win over Fremantle highlighted the qualities that they have nurtured over the last 3 seasons. 3 years ago they were a lower middle order team going nowhere. Then in comes a new chairman, new coach with a youthful policy and a new fitness coach (previously at Liverpool). Last season they were known for scoring heavily in the final quarter due to their fitness but maybe a little naive at winning against top teams. This season has seen them progress in all areas, and last seasons team would have not have won yesterday. This is a young fearless team who play hard till the final whistle and never give up. However the next game is the semi final against Hawthorn who along with Sydney Swans are the stand out teams this season. The odds this week are Hawthorn 1.37 and Port Adelaide 3.55 but once again i feel the match will be much closer than the odds suggest. Port yesterday showed nerve and courage in the second half to win and will carry forward great momentum and self belief. So another 20 quid might be worth a gamble.

Aussie Rules

Knockout time in the Aussie rules finals. The game i am looking at is Fremantle v Port Adelaide. Although Fremantle at home is a bit of a fortress, Port Adelaide are absolutely flying at the moment and are on a roll. I watched Port dismantle Carlton a few weeks ago, and last week made the form side in the league at the moment (Richmond 8 wins in a row) look ordinary. Indeed the game was all over at quarter time (42 - 7). This game will be close, Port narrowly losing at Fremantle 4 weeks ago when poised to win. A big loss for Fremantle from that game is the loss of Valentine (man of the match) and stopping the hard running Port team will be difficult. Its obviously a gamble but 2.5 to win with bf looks a bet. Suggest 20 quid . Gl all
