Nice post Red Dog.

I guess the people who are losing are (a) the new players - at the moment there's a pretty steady stream of them, after a while they learn get better and start winning, then move up stakes and maybe start losing again for a while then get better etc. so there should always be value at every level as long as the new players keep coming. That's not to say that they are losers at all stakes, nor to say after 6 months that they'll still be losing, and (b) the players who are just playing for a laugh - could be lowish stakes players who see it as entertainment and is costing them roughly the same as an evening down the Pub, equally could be stupidly rich people playing 'high-stakes' who enjoy throwing their cash around a bit. Sounds like Mandy's idea isn't going to kick off, not sure the collusion comments were meant directly at us Mandy just an in-general comment about team tourneys. I think in all honesty this wouldn't happen in the event, we'd all individually be playing to win. A disparity in play may arise from our notes I guess though - there'd be some Betfair players I'd be wanting to get involved in pots with and others not!

Not personally against a heads-up challenge of the same type but having not played many of these 100 would be way too much! Meanwhile looking forward to the next blonde tourney Smiley

In all honesty though, I think you could write a book on positional play - every decision you make is affected by position in some way or other.
Some of it is pretty basic, eg. ten-handed, ATs UTG cf ATs on the button in an unopened pot. Using your position on the flop, turn and river can be more subtle and I certainly don't always get it right but put it this way, if I have top pair Q kicker on the turn I want to be last to act!
Agree with Bongo and patman too.

I used to play ten-handed limit cash a lot, less now, but loaded my hands into pokertracker a few months back. Almost fell out of my chair when I saw the amount won on the button - accounts for almost half of my total profit!

I think position is important too. In a 400 person MTT you will normally find me out in 400th position. I would prefer it if I normally finished in 1st position really.   Grin

Seems to me most online sites use the following rules:

(i) if the BB is all-in by calling then others can limp for the same amount as his all-in or the small blind - whichever is the larger
(ii) any raise can be re-raised, even if its a 1 chip raise

The rules don't change so I can't see a problem - just have to bear it in mind. (ii) in particular can lead to some interesting plays. I quite like it Smiley

OK, well might try and make it if I'm in the area, sounds like fun & haven't dressed up in black-tie for years. And about time I got my movie star looks infront of a camera. I mean, look at my pic!  Grin

keeping it at 20 should ensure numbers remain decent whilst there's still a good prize for the winner. If you can get crypto to continue with the 20min format (i guess a continuing bonus would be asking for too much in the long run!) tis hard to see any reason to move it elsewhere? Making it a league would be fun too if its not too much hassle - maybe a fortnightly tourney on rotating days of the week to make sure everyone gets a chance and a quarterly winner on the leaderboard getting a small prize.
