I see.

Thought I was going blind there
2  Poker Forums / The Rail / Where's the "Live poker" forum? on: August 16, 2012, 06:44:33 PM
Apologies if this has been asked a thousand times but I've not been on here in a while and noticed there is no forum for live poker.

Has it been moved? Is it gone? Am I just blind/stupid ?

3  Poker Forums / Poker Hand Analysis / Re: Correct Ruling??? on: May 05, 2009, 06:48:06 PM
Why cant peeps just say raise or allin? Then the game flows and there is no need to call the floor prolonging the agony of having to sit in a live game and these threads wouldnt waste another 2 minutes of my life!

Exactly!

Total ignorance IMHO.  Just say 1000, 2000, or all-in etc.... and all this nonsense dissapears. Is it really that hard just to state the amount ?

I don't see where Hatton goes from here?

He's had his arse handed to him twice by the only two world class fighters he's fought. He's comfortably better than most other fighters in his weight division so where does he go?

maybe a "farewell" fight at Man City's ground against someone he'll easily beat. But then who would pay good money for that ?

All things point to retirement really
5  Poker Forums / Poker Hand Analysis / Re: Soulread or donk call WTF on: April 06, 2009, 07:04:16 PM
I'm guessing its like a $50-100 tourney in which case the whole hand completely puzzles me. (I recognise the player 'Dulwich' who is relatively new blonde Ant Gaughan and I know that's the range of tourney he tends to play).

I know you said 'dont say fold pre ffs I know, I was stealing thats why i raised and was restealing' but WTF!?. You want opinions when the only reasonable thing than can be said is FOLD PRE!?

60 chips aren't worth stealing. Just fold these trash hands and you'll never get into this spot.

Sorry I should explain more, The villian in this had been uber active, rereraising people on flops and it was fairly obvious he was outplaying the tighter people on the table, he was defending any blind of his that was raised and he loved to 4 - 5 bet people off pots, hence I was expecting to get in to a pot allow a pot to build and take his decision away from him forcing the fold, me representing the overpair and taking advantage of my image.

This just seems like such a difficult plan to execute.

Surely you've got to think to yourself there must be easier ways of getting chips?

I think when he re-raises on the flop you have to admit that your steal attempt has gone horribly wrong and it's back to the drawing board. No harm in folding right here in my opinion.

p.s. As has been said his call is horrendous. I've no idea what he was thinking.  at least you had a reason for doing what you did

Andy Walkers article is spot on for me!

People are saying the SFA have been harsh but the SFA punishment came AFTER Rangers had dished out their own punishment.

George Burley was quoted as saying after the game that Ferguson would remain Captain. Gordon Smith (SFA Chief Executive) was quoted on thursday afternoon as saying the matter was now closed, this after the photos of the V signs had been in the morning papers.

So it was rangers themselves who took the most severe action and the SFA then followed suit.

The SFA are a shambles but we all knew that anyway. Basically rangers have pounced on this as a chance to get two big earners off the wage bill.

I mean off the top of my head I can recall Gascoigne beating up his wife, Amorouso clearly caught on camera calling an opponent a 'Black B@stard' during a game. Surely these actions are far worse than a childish two finger salute to the camera Huh?

I don't remember what happened in those cases in terms of punishment by rangers but they were both allowed to continue playing for rangers so it seems very strange that rangers now want to take the moral highground when it comes to players stepping out of line. To me it seems obvious that rangers want rid of these two and are taking this action because of financial hardship and not some moral crusade.

On the actual drinking incident itself, the whole thing beggars belief. They arrived back at the hotel at 4AM and asked if it was OK to go for a drink. The fact that so called proffesional sportsman thought it was OK to ask is shocking. The fact that they were told yes is just mind blowing! 4 o'clock in the MORNING! Huh?

Can you imagine any top manager allowing that ?

would specifically putting player 5 on two high cards make this play any better?

See how the guy raised 5xBB pre flop. Was this just the standard raise for the table or was this higher than normal?

Most opening raises tend be 3xBB but here this guy raises 5xBB. Was this out of the ordinary for him?  The reason I ask is that quite often a bigger than normal pre-flop bet from a bad player is AK.

8  Community Forums / Betting Tips and Sport Discussion / Re: Celtic v Man utd on: November 05, 2008, 02:45:40 PM
Sadly I fear the worst for Celtic tonight. Yes our home record is fantastic but the game is not played in the past it is played in the here and now. Man Yoo are are far better side than they were even 2 years ago.

It's not impossible for Celtic to win and 6/1 on the home win is probably decent value actually but being realistic United should win this with a bit to spare.

Celtic's biggest chance is Man Utd thinking they just need to turn up (wouldn't be the 1st time an english team has done this with Celtic and got gubbed) and of course Boruc, Brown, McGeady & Nakamura playing out their skin.

But the fact remains that United have a better player for every position on the park than Celtic so they should win.
9  Poker Forums / The Rail / Are you allowed to join the table on the button? on: October 09, 2008, 02:56:50 PM
was playing in my local casino at the weekend when one of the tables got broke up and a guy who moved to our table sat down at the seat where the button was going to be for the next hand.

My understanding is that he sits out this hand and comes in on the next hand

10  Community Forums / Betting Tips and Sport Discussion / Re: Coronation Street Upset Rangers fans. on: October 09, 2008, 11:44:47 AM
I don't watch Corrie (Honest!) but from what I gather the character he plays is a bit of a scumbag.

So would it not suit rangers fans if he was indeed a Celtic fan?

Or is that the basis of their complaint ? - That such a reprehensible man should obviously be a teddy bear Cheesy

11  Poker Forums / Poker Hand Analysis / Re: Was this bad play - not by me tho' on: October 09, 2008, 11:17:39 AM
Well you're the one resorting to name calling.

The scenario you described is just a tpical car crash big pocket pair versus big pokcet pair that you always get in the later stages of an MTT when the blinds are large.

As has been said by other posters, would this thread be here if your aces held up?

to me the anwer is no and therefore this is a bad beat story
12  Poker Forums / Poker Hand Analysis / Re: Was this bad play - not by me tho' on: October 09, 2008, 10:31:49 AM
he had played with me all day and I had played nothing worse.

You made the final 4 playing only AA, KK and AK?

this is now a bit pointless so let's end the thread as I said earlier that I had doubled thru' with QQ and that the worst I had been seen to 3 bet with all day was AK. Perhaps if that isn't understandable then I would rather get comments from those who can.

well what is it that you're wanting people to say?

The guy had QQ the 3rd best starting hand. OK a tight player has re-raised so he might give some thought to folding but going all-in is hardly the worst move I've ever seen.

In short I think this is a poorly disguised bad beat story.
13  Poker Forums / Poker Hand Analysis / Re: Help, he's min bet me on the turn (STT) on: September 21, 2008, 10:56:14 AM
what are the stakes here?

at the lower levels he will call your bet on the flop if he has any king or a flush draw

So a King comming down here is a scare card. Also at the lower levels players tend to call with a draw or a weak hand but when their hand improves to a monster they suddenly bet really small. They get loads of chips in when they are behind but then bet the minimum when they go infront!

If it's a slightly higher standard then he may have called your flop bet with the intention of betting the turn regardless of what card comes out. But then his bet size makes no sense if that was his plan.

So erm.. I don't know LOL! Cheesy

Given the info I'd put him on a King or a flush draw. I'd be inclined to just call here as I cannot fold to such a small bet but.

the only problem (or the main problem) with calling is that he'll most likely put you all-in on the river
14  Poker Forums / The Rail / Re: Poker pet peeves on: August 27, 2008, 02:42:35 PM
Haven't read all the replies so this has probably been mentioned

People who have a go at bad players who make bad decisions but get lucky.

If they never got lucky then they wouldn't call the "raise, re-raise, all-in" just because "they were suited"

They're his chips. he's paid his money so he can do what he wants with them. Stop berating these loveable fools

2) People who can't deal!

Fair enough if you're arms in a sling or you're missing a thumb or whatever but seriously get a bloody grip and take your turn like everyone elses!

15  Poker Forums / The Rail / Question about the rules on: August 24, 2008, 01:51:54 PM
was playing in a home game the other night and one of the guys got knocked out when it would have been his turn to post the big blind next hand.

So we came to the next hand and the guy who was sort of in charge said there was no big blind just a small blind to which I replied that, that was incorrect and that the big blind just moves onto the next player.

anyway this was my first time at this home game and I was out-voted 5-1 about this rule.

I didn't make a big deal about it as it's only a wee friendly game but I am 100% correct aren't I ?

Also on this topic are there any circumstances in which a hand can start with no Big Blind being posted
