ok, so you are playing heads up and you bluff all in on the flop, your opponent calls and so the cards are turned over and you can see your opponent is holding  .

now my answer is correct Wink

Yes knowing your opponent has 2 cards that aren't hearts means hitting a flush. But there are full house draws to consider now, so no point in hitting a flush if it's 10h or .

flush draw beating a set:
47/7 x 46/6 = 50/1 = 1.9%

And running straight cards would be just as good as a backdoor flush (unless your agasint 67... not too likely). Chances of hitting a 3 and a 5 are:

47/8 * 46/4 = 67/1 = 1.5%

wrong

 please stop defiling maths

0?

wrong

21/1

wrong

45 cards left in deck 10 of which are hearts therefore chance of heart on turn is 45/10

then providing the turn is a heart there are 44 cards left in deck of which 9 are hearts therefore chance of heart on river is 44/9

chance of both being hearts is (45/10)x(44/9) = 22 or 21/1

thats in the jungle anyway Wink

wrong

52 - minus 3 cards for the flop, minus 4 cards for the players hole cards.

wrong

Apologies, maybe i should have said "provided all 10 hearts are live" in my first post

wrong

Not that daft.

Just if you are looking at the odds you can't dicount the other hole cards. where in the question did it state it was HU if it is a table of 10 do we base it on 29 cards?

wrong

for a bunch of so-called poker players, this is just embarrassing

Will the dealer deal to you?

yes

Are you allowed to walk up the stairs and get your own beers in?

well, there has always been a rule that you can't order alcoholic drinks at the tables, so everyone has to get their own beers, regardless

but you don't have to pay rake at the Gutshot anymore.

yes you do

in front of every player is a declaration to voluntarily donate to the house 5% of all pots won, up to a maximum of £10

if you don't sign it, the waitresses won't serve you

please don't be too hard on yourself as i think you were also subconsciously trying to help out a friend

um, that is the exact reason he is being hard on himself

in this situation, whether he is your friend or not should be irrelevant

unfortunately, i think you just accused your friend of cheating at poker

oops!

Backgammon and rubber bridge clubs have operated in London for a long time. Why is poker different? I know rubber bridge clubs had their own battles but they won by claiming it was a skill game. If it didn't matter that there was a large luck element for those games why did it matter for poker? Was the fact that bridge and backgammon clubs were not competing with casinos a factor?

the difference is that to win at bridge or backgammon (or chess, or scrabble), you have to at least know the rules

the same does not hold for poker

taking this to its logical conclusion, players should have the option, when they are all-in, to get out a calculator, work out the exact percentages for each player, and just split the pot thusly

so if the pot was $50,000, farha would take $40,050 and matusow would take $9,950 and they wouldn't even bother dealing a flop

no more bad beats!!
12  Poker Forums / The Rail / Re: Bad beat jackpots? on: January 18, 2007, 04:00:51 PM
35% for the 'loser', 17.5% for the winner, 17.5% shared amongst the others.

Oh, and they keep 10% for 'administration', which IMO is taking the mick given they rake an extra 50c/pot to fund the thing.

who gets the other 20%?

bsl is a distinct language in its own right, and, as such, is tied in to deaf culture and society

it is a rich medium, with dialects and slang which move with current trends

however, i agree that one of the most hilarious and surreal things i ever saw on tv was a white, middle-aged woman in a cardigan signing along to 50 Cent
