Think I read on fb Jack had 88 v Simon.
v

Thanks Celtic, I appreciate that.
Sorry that I soiled a tournament update thread with a badbeat saga.  I may be old, been a blondeite for years, but I don't post often, as you can see.
Simon emailed me to berate me for this, but didn't get round to telling me what Jack held ... typical.

Tom Somerville opens to 160,000 called on the button by Simon Lawlor

Jack Allen all in big blind 1.385m

Somerville passes

Lawlor calls all in for 1.1m with A-Qo

10-4-3-9-6 to knock Simon Lawlor out 18th

Tighty,  Simon Lawlor seems to have crawled away to die quietly somewhere, unless went to a cash table of course?  DO YOU REMEMBER what Jack Allen had aga8nst Simon's AQo?  You will appreciate my interest.

As you urged everyone to join in the £50 satellite to UKIPT Galway on the basis of value, I happily went there and put up the necessary. Promisingly placed 4th out of 15 (6 X £2,000 packages were on offer), I pushed with and was called by iboz2929 with .  Flop  meant no flushing. The unlikely horror of backdoor QT for a straight was quickly dispelled when the turn paired him with  .  I almost 'fell off the twig' when he rivered !

Telling bad-beat stories is not my worst habit ... not even close.  Now at bubble stage and being 5/7,  Two Clubs clubs in the big blind tempted me to call the min raise of the same opponent. I shoved on the Two Diamonds flop. He called with his .  Turn  , river  ... goodnight Galway ... sadly I had already chosen my hotel.

Who is Iboz2929?  I fancy I might have a tenner on him to win the thing.    Google gives little support to the notion!  (I hope this isn't flaming?)

As for myself I need some support.  I see that I have to have 300 posts to be eligible for staking here.  Only 277 to go after this.  Expect some activity on a daily basis from me.  bad beat yawn

Hi Caroline, How's Simon Lawlor doing in seat 9 table 14?

Grant has a sandwich in his pocket which he kisses every hand.

FTW!

Is it the same one he had last year?
7  Poker Forums / The Rail / Re: DTD Grand Prix Day 2 Runners Sweepstake, £250 Gtd, Possible £76 overlay :-( on: August 18, 2011, 03:04:08 PM
Personally happy to accept the two above and then stump up the rest myself.

If anyone seriously objects to this can you post in the next couple of hours or so.

Closing time for objections 4-30pm ;-)

Hi Stuart,   I am gonna be out for a couple of hours.  I have just transferred the $60 to your Stars account in case you can go ahead with mine and Simon's entry.  Seems that he couldn't do it for some reason: milkman caught him at home; Stars foiund out he is in fact a CIA agent and thus banned, like all his countrymen from on-line poker sites (Boston RedSox fan since birth, of course) or perhaps something outrageous.

If all fails then you can transfer it back.
8  Poker Forums / The Rail / Re: DTD Grand Prix Day 2 Runners Sweepstake, £250 Gtd, Possible £112 overlay :-( on: August 18, 2011, 01:41:38 PM
Look like it was a slightly silly plan.

I'm in obv to reduce the overlay! ;-)

Any more for any more?

Pity you closed it so soon!   Late this afternoon surely would have left enough variables to guess at, with a day and a half of on-line to go and four sessions in the cardroom?

Must tell you that you have one duplicate: 373

Of academic interest only, my guesses are:  364  382  395

And if you can find a way to be most un-DtD like and change the rules by re-opening it then you can put them in.
In this unlikely event I would pay you on Saturday.
9  Poker Forums / The Rail / Re: Grand Prix Overlay now projected at €99,500 !! on: August 17, 2011, 11:39:19 AM

We ran a 3pm online flight that produced 2 seats so have extended online flights to run from 12pm tomorrow. Now you can qualify at a time to suit you.

Not yet showing up in the lobby?

edit - the 1200 is there now  Smiley

Is there any downside in running a 1500 and a 1700 too?  Surely if they need to be cancelled then any who registered will just move on to the next convenient one?

Made Day two in the 7pm live Day 1 Smiley

I sat up following redsimon's progress on the DtD website, amusing myself watching players being added to the busted list and watching table structures change.  He started with Greek Jack two seats to his right and when Kevin Hallmark busted early from seat 1, Peter 'The Bandit' Evans moved in.  Had this been later in the GP, this could have been the featured table and apart from comings and goings from the other seats these three remained until Peter Evans went in 32nd place. There were a couple of table breaks after this, Greek Jack moved away but Tajudeen Adelaja moved in, and although better known as a HORSE and Omaha player he is no NLHE slouch!

Anyway it must have been around 3am when Tajudeen busted 15th, rapidly followed by Mark Orlowski, bubble, and the 13 survivors to day 2 were known. You can find them under 'Current Seatings' in the tournament section for GP4 Live Day 1 7pm 13th August. http://www.dusktilldawnpokerclub.com/result-info.php?id=2138&type=results

Was I the only one to notice that redsimon's Forest logo has changed(?), to herald the arrival of Steve McClaren at the City Ground.     I hope Simon has better luck at DtD next Saturday than Forest are having right now.
11  Poker Forums / The Rail / Re: Sad News: Dave Smith on: January 04, 2011, 10:45:17 AM
I first met Dave Smith about nine years ago at Owlerton I believe. I shared a few tables with him over these few years and learned to respect him greatly as a player. More than this, Dave was one of the great gentlemen of poker. Many will miss him just as much as I will.

Hi all, I haven't been able to speak to Simon again, but I know he will be touched by the volume of good wishes recorded here.
Nottingham Uni Hospital, in its infinite wisdom, protects its patients from all sites having the evil word 'poker' in their URLs
So you won't be seeing Simon at the on-line tables until he gets out, probably next week, when he will be able to read all your messages for himself.

13  Poker Forums / The Rail / Redsimon has kidney transplant on: January 13, 2010, 10:48:20 PM
Redsimon is recovering in Nottingham University Hospital after a successful kidney transplant operation yesterday morning. It's been a long wait for him, certainly more than four years I am sure.
I spoke to him about an hour ago and he was in good spirits. He will be in the hospital for a least a few days while the proper working of his new kidney is checked out.
I am sure that all blondeites wish him a quick return to the more normal poker life that most of us enjoy.
