And  BIG thanks to Blonde for allowing us to broadcast it on the site, thanks guys.
I hope it proves enjoyable and entertaining viewing.... of which it no doubt will with plenty of guest commentators including Neil Channing and Nik Persud.

I'd imagine Jon Shoreman would happily do the same if Blonde asked him for a favour Smiley

I sure would.

they have forgotten to show us the hole cards

Cannot show the hole cards on a live transmission when the players are not in a seperate room.
Hole cams were in place, but only recorded, noone could see them. They will be edited in to the TV show that will go out later this year.

I think the point that everyone is missing is John was not aware of the change.
Had he requested it then I say nothing, it's his ceremony.
But they changed the song because some other random Brits said it was a good idea (and they were just joking)
Do you think if some Americans suggested they play "fuck the USA" at the next American ceremony they would do it?
And if they did, do you think the bracelet winner would be happy and just say, ha ha good joke?
and what do you think the reaction of the crowd would be?
John was in shock, you could see it on his face, and he confirmed it afterwards that he was not happy about it.
This was an insult to John.
I know John pretty well and was sure he wouldn't complain. It is for all these reasons that I decided to say something.

Are you fun to share a table with Mr Shoreman?

Apparently not.

Thx for posting Jon and clearing things up

Did the WSOP directors give a reason for the change of anthem from when JP and Roland collected there bracelts.

I assume this wont be happening again in the future

Their first statement was that john requested it. John walked by and said he knew nothing about it. They then said "a few Brits  requested it" this I can beleive. I also beleive that they thought this was a version of the natinal  anthum. As I said, had john been aware of this or didn't have a problem I would have said nothing. But john was not aware and he did gave a problem , and so I said something.

Great stuff.
John has a cracking, dry sense of humour, and surely would have found it hilarious.
Not surprised Mr Shoreman found it distasteful.
Never met a more miserable man, lacking in any sense of humour, in all my life at a poker table.

The first thing I did after the ceremony was to ask John if he requested the song. He told me he had not. Had he requsted this  I would have said nothing. John was in shock. This was the pinicle of his poker life and it had been ruined. I knew he would say nothing. It was on johns behalf I made the protest. The ignorant wsop dierctors  actually thought this was a version of the national anthum. I have a sense of humour but this was just an insult to the British players. I spoke to john the next day and he confirmed  to me he was upset by what had happend. He played the 50,000 HORSE the day of the ceremony and he  said he was on tilt for 2 hours because of this.

So much for your reading abilities of how John would react. There hasn't been a Brit I have spoken to at the wsop who thought this wasn't in bad taste and felt bad and sorry for John

It seems every year they struggle to get a sponsor and like it has been said many times by many people if it was such a good deal Jon Shoreman would have sponsored it himself.

I think the Olympics is a good deal .... but I don't sponsor that.
I think the Premership is a good deal .... but I don't sponsor that.

I did in fact sponsor one of the events myself, the very first (and only televised) Headsup Poker Circuit event.

We have run the WHPC for 7 years now, this will be the 8th. These types of events cost a lot to run and film. Each year the sponsorship money received has never covered the out going costs and I have personally lost money each year, some years more than others.

If I had the marketing capital to sponsor the WHPC for the next ten years, I would.

Horrible story, every sympathy for those involved.

Most countries have very strict rules with regards to taking money in and out of the country. In the USA, and many other countries you have to declare any amounts over $10,000. It Is not a problem to travel with more than $10,000, you just simply have to declare it. All it takes is 10 minutes to fill out a form.

In Russia the law is different. You are not allowed to take more out of the country than you take in. On entry you declare how much you have, and when you leave you cannot take more than this. It’s simple. It’s the law. And if you break the law you have to pay the consequences.

If you go to Russia and win money there you need to arrange for the casino to make a wire transfer to your bank account. It’s the only legal way of getting the money out.

An expensive lesson learned.

The servers were physically moved from their old location to a new one.
This is a major job, and took some time.

Normal service, bad beats, dodgy rivers, bad RNG etc. has been resumed.
