a 6am re-open for pubs tomorrow is stupefyingly daft isn't it?

starting on a Saturday was odd enough, but people are going to be in a state with no chance of acting responsibly?

I think this was partly to stop places opening up at midnight

Some Austrian GP selections:

Fastest Qualifier - Lewis Hamilton @ 15/8 - based on the pre-season data, I'm happy to take 15/8 on Lewis here as I see his only real threat to be Valtteri Bottas. 10 points.

Points Finish - Esteban Ocon @ 6/4 (Hills only) - Has scored points in his last two races at this circuit, and he should certainly have the car underneath him to do it again. 12 points.

Top Six Finish - Esteban Ocon @ 17/2 (365 only) - Similar reasoning to above, the price seems high to me. 5 points.

Race Winner - Valtteri Bottas @ 6/1 EW (1/5 1-3) - A magnificent price for someone to "podiumvate" in the quickest car. Fill your boots with this one, 20 points EW.

Race Winner - Sergio Perez @ 66/1 EW (1/5 1-3) - Highly competitive in pre-season testing. Not realistically in contention for the win, but they have an outside chance of scoring a podium. My pre-season analysis had them as the third fastest team, possibly even second fastest. Admittedly the break will have worked against them in terms of development, but I like the price. 5 points EW.

Any love for bottas/max/albon season bets for the title with the shortened season?

Also, how badly affected will Ferrari be with going back to pre season car & going down a different development route?

A likely (but not yet confirmed) shorter season certainly plays into the hands of the "long shot" title contenders, but realistically I don't see how anyone outside Lewis/Valtteri can win the title this year. Their advantage seems insurmountable to me, possibly even larger than I originally anticipated on the basis of what we saw today. I do have some money on Valtteri to win the title at 6-1 EW (top two) and you can currently get 7-1, so there is some value to be had. 9/2 or 5/1 feels more in the correct range IMO.

That's disastrous for Ferrari with the shortened season; it's not even as if their car pre-season had much pace either. My pre-season analysis had them finishing 3rd overall, but potentially starting out the season as the 5th fastest team. Looking at the race simulations from today, I make Ferrari (at least in the hands of Leclerc) 4th fastest on the medium tyres and 6th fastest on the soft tyres. Vettel was even further back. It's going to be a challenging season for them I suspect.

Wow! Didn't realise it could be that bad for Ferrari!! Thank's for your insights

Guess it comes down to how many twats descend on the place without booking......

Mate of mine is a manager of a pub in Portsmouth, first day back proper from furlough was yesterday....he had someone from the nearby hospital ring up & try to book a space for 40 doctors/nurses!

I wasn't too sure about going on the first Saturday but my local seems to be taking a very responsible and I'll be there to support them. (Seriously it's all for them.....)

They've put the following measures in place:

- We will be stepping up our sanitising hand washing & cleaning regime

- All staff will be wearing appropriate PPE: face masks/ visors & gloves

- all condiments will be in sachets for single use & disposable

- a one way system will be in place with designated entrance and exit doors (Entrance will be via the doors opposite co-op)

- We will have a member of management on the door all day every day.

- we are temperature checking every staff member before shift & all customers on arrival

- all tables will be spaced a minimum of 1m apart or split by a standing screen (luckily we are fortunate enough to have plenty of space to spread out)

- our wollaton app will be in place for all orders to be placed & food/drink will be delivered to the table by a staff member (we will have disposable menus available for anyone who doesnโ€™t wish to use the ap)

- Perspex screens are being fitted at the bar to separate customers from bar staff

- We will be running a reduced food menu to allow a smaller kitchen team to allow a safe social distance working environment

- No standing will be permitted (everyone must be sat at tables) & no congregating at the bar will be allowed

It'll be quite different but if it's implemented and followed then it seems safe and also tolerable to me. Guess it comes down to how many twats descend on the place without booking......

Sounds pretty standard for the pubs near me as well.

I'd expect them keep some tables aside for walk ins.  I'd be more worried of the twats who see mates inside & suddenly go over for a talk/catch up. Or even try to get tables together etc...could be hard for the staff to police

Surely the pubs and restaurants will not just go back to business as usual.

Won't they be similar to supermarkets allowing a small number of people in at a time, or will all that queueing be over now?

Absolutely this.

Pubs will be limiting numbers within the venue, majority of tables should be pre booked. Maximum of 6 people at a table, some are limiting a table to a max of 2 hours.

Ideally everything ordered via an app, if not it should be table service.  People should not go up to the bar to order & should not stand around anywhere inside

Something that's been bothering me slightly:

The pub closures were announced on a Friday if I remember correctly with closure at mid-night that same day. A lot of people made the most of it that day and were drinking literally 'til they got kicked out and many people berated them saying that they were disgusting/irresponsible.

Is it equally as bad for people to be waiting outside next Saturday for the pubs to open? I can;t imagine the same degree of moaning although it doesn't seem very different to me.

On the Friday Boris said to venues to close as soon as reasonably possible that day. As could be predicted by trusting common sense they were all rammed until closing.

Re-opening on a Saturday is asking for trouble but most businesses will have to go along with it and open. I'm sure there will be queues outside pubs that morning for any outside tables and social distancing will be out the window by mid afternoon.

If you read the guidance & some of the lines that the big companies are taking, popping to the pub for a couple pints looks like it will be a challenge.   I guess it depends on how stringent each pub is about it all

How many of you are counting down the days waiting for that 1st pint? A haircut? Or getting away for a staycation?

Or are you not overly bothered, would rather wait a bit longer or for when restrictions are relaxed further as it wouldn't be the experience you are after?

I can't be doing with Maguire because he won't admit to liking or caring about anything.

I'm always relieved when Maguire remembers to bring his chalk.

Allen is old-school re.chalk - just sticks it right down in his trouser-pocket - he must go through loads of pockets.

I wore ripped jeans long before they were fashionable due to the chalk.

Eventually I bought a magnetic chalk holder and never looked back.

That gadget brings back memories as a kid!

I've never understood these, I play lots of pool & odd bit of snooker myself & my pocket suits me just fine

What do you call lots?

If you play 8-10 hour days, 6-7 days a week and chalk your cue every shot, the chalk will wear your pants out.

I'm sure Mark or Ralph will testify.

Before changing jobs I was playing probably 6/7 days a week for a couple hours a day apart from sun & mon where it was a lot more.  These days (pre lockdown) it's mainly just Monday nights (league night) & whenever I can get a knockabout in down the pub.

Tbh most lf my jeans/trousers have holes in their pockets, so from what you guys are saying it makes sense ๐Ÿ˜‚

Still not a fan of those thingys though!

5. Number of acting roles by Robert De Niro, according to IMDB? 121

KarmaDope 120 - 1
Karabiner 119 - 2
Juperjiper 112 โ€“ 9
Rubbish2407 109 - 12
bergeroo 101 - 20
Ironside 100 - 21
Cf 100 - 21
4KSuited 145 - 24
Tal 150 - 29
Dacorb 80 - 41
TightEnd 75 - 46
jakally 70 - 51
celtic 63 - 58
MintTrav 62 - 59
stribling 62 - 59
nirvana 200 - 79
sonour 200 - 79
ripple11 31 - 90
Arbboy 24 - 97
bunnydas8888 300 - 179

Not a question you could go too far wrong on, with only Bunnydas8888 thinking De Niro is in every second film. Incredible again from KarmaDope who watches a lot of De Niro films whilst selling iPhones. A few of the league stragglers have a good question with Karabiner, Juperjiper, Cf, 4KSuited and Tal all scoring well.

having just checked IMDB, i clearly included all of his performances where he was himself

but in reality i'm happy with where i finished, strong performance to get out of the relegation spots, but at the end of the day, i was just shit
