Fair play to Barry.

So many pro's reach their early 30s (or sometimes sooner) and start dropping down the divisions, but not this guy. When you're game isn't built around speed, it gives you a huge advantage. Barry is so slow it probably took him weeks to get out the womb when he was born, but he has a sharp footballing mind and has kept himself in great condition.

He was an excellent signing for City back in the day. Not gonna set the back pages alight, but went about his job in a quietly effective way. And when he does eventually retire, he has a lovely Premier League winners medal to fuss over.

If you look at his appearance stats, they are quite incred; from the 98/99 season to last season, there was only one year where he made less than 30 PL appearances (20 in 01/02), every other season has been 30+. Maybe been lucky to not pick up any serious injuries, but sometimes you make your own luck, and his professionalism to the game has undoubtedly assisted in keeping him on the pitch and not on the treatment table.

Apparently Wenger was interested in signing Gareth Barry in 2009 before he joined City. Another one to add to Wenger's ''almost signed'' list, you can make quite a first XI and squad of the players he came close to buying (at least in his mind).

Shithouse tackle on Gundogan tonight, by Yacob, who has previous with City. Hope its nothing serious and was only taken off as a precaution. He was having a cracking game until then.

Incredible opening goal, 50 odd touches from kick off, they didn't touch the ball until the keeper parried the shot and Sane stuck it in off the rebound. Made hard work of it as we really should've been out of sight by half time. Good to see some squad players getting a runout though.

Onwards to Palace on Saturday.

Hoping this guy gets another run out tonight. Always comes across as so humble and genuinely likeable. And he is, of course, an incredibly talented footballer.

Great article if you have a spare 5 minutes....

Bobby 'The Brain' Heenan

What a man!

RIP

Incred skills in the commentary box. Him and Gorilla Monsoon were the nut combo. Decent manager as well, he just seemed to thrive having the camera on him.

He looked so frail and different to how I remember him from my childhood Sad

You do look sensational at times.  I am struggling to see how you are still odds against to win the EPL tbh.  I appreciate we have been here last season but this is a totally different team that is fully geared up this season and could easily win the EPL by half the track.

Even more struggling now to see how you are still odds against!

Can still, just about, get even money.

We have Palace at home next Saturday but then Chelsea away, with CL and League cup games in amongst it too. But the way the team are playing I think its good to have regular games, try and maintain this momentum for as long as possible.

After a slow start, the 40/1 for 100+ goals is now right on target. Long way to go....

We not already on KDB at 20/1+ pre season?  Pretty sure i put it up at 20's?    Maybe i only put Jesus up for player of the season at 40/1 when he was single figures to win the golden boot.  Good shout anyway as he looks different class yet again this season.

Got Arb stealing my thunder now, fml Wink
