So these are the official NHS figures for covid deaths in hospitals... other than care homes where else are they taken from ?  we seem way short of the 3-400 daily they report

31-Oct-20   01-Nov-20   02-Nov-20   03-Nov-20

The UK approach during this crisis has been poor, early forgivable chaos has been replaced by clarity. Well clarity in the sense that it's clear we don't have a farkin clue about how to live with this virus in a way that seems to meet the needs to be morally, politically and economically sustainable.

Whilst the situation here is poor, it's broadly the same as the rest of Europe, the Americas, Africa. Lockdown reduces infection, open up a bit and cases rise because no country ( a handful of exceptions in Asia and the backwaters of Australia/NZ) has found a way to more or less eradicate the disease to the point where Track and Trace actually works

Surely it's time for a country to actually try something different. Pretty remarkable that there doesn't seem to be a single smart idea and somewhat incredible that there's been virtually no effort to co-ordinate a response on a supra-national scale (except perhaps in the pursuit of a vaccine). I think this will be looked back on as a reasonable test of supra national orgs like the EU, probs gonna get a fail.

You not been reading Sicilian's posts?

Overwhelming the NHS. Is the main reason for lockdown again.. you would have thought with the knowledge a second wave was inevitable they would have poured resources into preparing for this with nightingales all over the place ready and waiting

So I somehow managed to contract Covid Smiley

It was a little odd.. I had the tiniest of coughs and felt a little under the weather so took my temperature which showed as high. What I didnt know was the thermometre was low on battery and it turning red was this and not a fever looool. I did not know this until later when my daughter pointed it out, battery replaced temp was normal. In the meantime id upped and ran like a big girls blouse to the testing centre.

You have to have an appointment and incredibly someone somewhere has flicked a switch and the whole process has become super efficent. I went on line to book at 1.15pm and had a test for 2pm and it said there were over 600 spaces left that day !.

This wasnt a one off either as everyone around me went for subsequent tests and all got them in a similar time frame.

I was surprised to test positive especially as all who had been close to me tested negative including my eldest daughter who is currently living with me .. false positive ??

Anyway isolation has followed with little to no symptoms.. first night was like a medium flu.. was shivering then sweating.. after that literally nothing. Occasional headache and a cough which was more akin to clearing my throat.

I am nearly 52 but confess i am a gym hound and eat pretty healthily so this may have stood me in good stead. I know everyone will be different but is covid real.. yes of course..is it the bubonic plague we have to fear like the end of the world.. no its not. If you are even remotely healthy I think you have nothing to worry about as borne out by the figures that show that the vast majority of deaths occur in over sixties and literally every one of them with underlying issues. We seem to have forgotten this in the hysteria.

Also reports the last few days state around 350 deaths a day.. NHS official figures deaths in hospitals around a hundred a day. Im assuming the rest are homes etc. I know people in two different homes and the precautions they take are ridiculous.. its hard to believe that if all homes were like this so many would die of covid.. or are we just calling it that as these deaths occur naturally of other things and its easy just to put that on the certificate.. or are we just making it up as we go along.

I read a report from the office of national statistics the other week, which on the face of it you think you could trust.. seems legit official. Now for a very long time the average deaths attributed to flu in the Uk is around 17K per year.. according to the ONS this year only around 385 people have died of flu.. hmmmm.

So what does this tell us.. it tells us you can twist numbers to suit any agenda you like.. and in the meantime the Government is like Nero whilst Rome burns

Oh man, get well soon.... I’m sure your CrossFit workouts have boosted your immune system though.

You’ll like this one. Mr “I drink £4 coconut water while working out” is actually a PT he came over to me today and started telling me about how he was used to hardcore gyms, not health clubs like Nuffield blah blah... I entertained him for a while until he asked me if I needed spotting on anything 😂

Loool .. Cheers... feel absolutely fine.. was a bit rough Monday night but been right as rain since..gym bag was all packed for the morning as soon as i got the all clear lol.... slight delay on that trip then..

It was always going to be like this as ive been a strong advocate about our hiding under the bed culture.. You hit the nail on the head with immune system... was never worried about getting it..even less worried now... give me those anti bodies  Grin Grin Grin...

Had an over eager gym’er this morning he saw me put the belt and wraps on while on the rack and he came over and said
“Can I just show you something” continued stand in the rack and show me the motion of squatting and then said “try it without the wrist wraps and chalk next time” so I told him I would next time I was squatting and I continued to press the weight over my head. I think he was embarrassed for giving me unsolicited advice on an exercise I wasn’t doing.

Love this

Your OHP is light years ahead of mine. I've been stuck at 80kg for as long as I can remember and every extra kilo I try seems like I've added an elephant to the bar, 100kg+ over head is huge.

I think my problem is my core strength, I have the pressing strength there to do more but overall I can't put it together. I'd imagine with your dead lift and squat you can brace really well and form a nice base to press off.

Hahahahahaha... helpful weakling shuffles away in silence

Lol you literally can’t make it up, I was already tilted when he walked in carrying a carton of coconut water

Loool story gets better.. only the presence of sweat headband and leg warmers could improve it

You have to respect the Lancet and its proponents, however there is no evidence of re-infection or widespread death in the young. Almost feels it was written by Sky News
