Crap shoot Satellite Tournament

Was playing in a turbo rebuy last night to the late night $150 on Stars and was doing okish but never that comfortable.
Anyway, 75 players left (ish) and the blinds are 3000/6000 with 300 ante. I have around 28000 and post the big blind so down to 21.something thousand and am dealt
. 33 players get a seat.
3 from button raises to 12,000 - he has around 40k
Should I have just folded and then attack when I get the chance after the blinds pass me by?
Reasons for me thinking I should have folded are we're really in the stage when people are all in or nothing so a 2xBB raise kinda says he's looking to get all in if possible to me. On the other hand, I thought it was a hand worth defending the blind on.
It's a fold isn't it?
Anyway, I called and the flop came
and I moved all in. I think I did this hoping that he had something like Ace Something, didn't hit and would fold, clearly he didn't and turned AKo which stood up. Having called, should I have just checked/folded here?
Is it better to just let the blind go in situations like this or was I right to try and defend it? If I had have won the pot, I'd have been safe for the seat I think but in the current position, it was going to involve risking it at some point in the next hand.

that's always the problem with the sats on stars (the turbo ones) if you have an uneasy feeling about something you fold your hands IMO. It's fold or push time really in those things there is no flatcalling to see a flop unless you hold a monster even when you are on the BB.
In any other tourney I would have told you to push with that hand to that raise, however you are right when you say he was looking for someone to call him as in this stage of a tourney he would have pushed with any two other hands. (I don't get him calling with AK though..VERY bad call IMO)
I would have pushed or folded, I wouldn't peel off a flop.

Pushing pre is a horrible player, you always get looked up.
I prefer the Stop and Go you made, its the far superior player, just ul he had a hand.
Boldie really you think AK is a bad call here?!?!? 15k to win 45k when he is probably ahead! It's an easy call with AK against a probable stop and go.

i disagree with flushy. mainly because you don't have enough BB to make the stop and go really work.
i stand by my record in crapshoot sats and all i ever do in them is push or fold once i have below 15 BB and there's twice the field left to the number of seats on offer. it sounds sorta mental but it works. i was thinking of writing it up as a proper theory but someone has probably already done that.

So the stop and go wasn't too bad, just that I didn't have enough chips to do it properly!
I've been reading Aristons satellite strats as I want to win some sats but I didn't read the details for this one properly before I started last night and didn't realise it was a turbo until it started
If you have any theory on turbo sats (or any other types) I'd appreciate the read

Flushie ussually you are right of course but these turbo sats are something else in the latter stages. I play them regularly now (never used to) and it really is only push or fold at this stage. Defending the blind is unneccesary it gets you no extra respect..people simply HAVE TO push at this stage so odds are your blind will be raised every round no matter what.
I understand the stop and go and it is the better player that does this. And I would have laid down to this if I had AK and 28k back.
I much prefer to get my chips in first in these things. If I get called then that's what happens but I'm rarely calling a raise without a premium hand (even if it's my BB).
As for the AK call, yes I think it's not the right call to make. Assuming Silo hit anything on the board you are drawing to 6 outs at the most (not taking into account a runner runner) for essentially your entire tourney when you still have 28k behind which could easily get you a seat.
These things really get completely nuts at the end and there is very little proper poker involved (if any)..which is probably why I fair pretty well in them.

the turbo ones on stars are fairly straight forward (the rebuy ones)
Rule 1; You take the rebuy at the very beginning so that you have double your starting chips.
rule 2; you don't flatcall during the rebuy stage (unless it's for all your chips)..you push or fold. There is no in between, this is not poker and even when you only play 2 hands during the half hour rebuy stage people will call your all-ins. (even when it's clear yu should have Aces or Kings)
rule 3, Take the add-on if you need it.
rule 4; continue to play premium hands as much as possible during the freezeout stage. This is when you lose a lot of players early onas people don't make the switch to freeze-out very well.
If yoou don't get premium hands..spot the weak player and push him off everything. (his BB his raises etc)
rule 5; in the end it turns into a crap shoot once again. People will stall to get the blinds up and get everyone in trouble and that's the way it is..nothing you can do about it..unfortunatly. But it is push or fold time again so anytwo face cards will do for most people. This is the time where you ussually should have around 30k in chips. If you find yourself with roughly that and still in the Seats according to the rankings..you can justabout sit back and not play a hand anymore.
Everybody will be pushing and stalling at this stage, so keep an eye on the lobby to see your position in the rankings, calculate how many hands are likely to be played before the end. and if you need to pick up a blind push all your chips in the middle and pray.
These things are not proper poker, in fact they have nothing to do with it. However tight players can get tremendous value out of these things. Ussually 15% of players get a seat (atleast in the million sat (11$ rebuy) it's 15%) in the weekend the % is even higher. This is all about getting a seat and T$, don't even try to play normal poker unless you've spotted a player at the table who is doing just that. Against those guys you can make fancy moves, against anyone else you don't.

I am not saying the SNG is the correct move, i would just pass, i am saying its better than just pushing.

I play the turbos a lot on stars and though I am no expert, rarely do I call when it is push time (ie that late in the sat) I would rather go all in on the button with 72o then call for all my chips with AK against a single opponent. In my limited experience ($6 SnG's - $35 SnG's), I never call there, I move in or fold.
But I would have folded I think there, you dont need to double up, just stick around. Win one hand per round and stay afloat. Then again, I am playing micros....there may be a reason lol

no that really is the way to go in most turbo MTT sats.

Took the advise on board for last nights 1000 fpp sat to the 8000 fpp sat for the Monte Carlo EPT event and won a space in the 8000
Was short stacked all the way through, even in the final stages I was 17th out of 17, then 16th of 16 etc, etc, then on 14th out of 14, I finally got my hand (pocket aces) doubled up and went to 10th, few hands later got pocket aces again and went from 10th to chip leader and didn't have to play another hand after that. 8000 more fpp's in the bank. Couple more of those and I'll have a bash at actually qualifying for the (an) EPT.
Thanks to all that's posted and Ariston
