OK, its a $25 double freezeout on Blonde.

I have been big CL for a while, with 20k. When I have bet aggressively and been called I have always had the goods. Likewise I have small balled at times, yet again when I go to the river I have the goods. You get the idea...

OK this hand played out (50 pence is ready)...

I now have 18500 ish and villain has 11500...

Blinds 200/400

Folds around to me on Button with
I flat call, as every time I have done this the SB has raised me out of the roof...

SB folds (dam!)

BB (Remaythebear) Raises to 2000

RESULT!

I reraise to 6000

Remaythebear calls

Flop:

  Two Clubs

Remay pushes all in for 5.5k

I've seen him get caught out doing this already this tournament against shorter stacks...

CALL

Remay flips  two hearts

Happy days I'm well ahead, hold breath...

Turn.. Two Diamonds

River...

Who is more demented? Him for such a loony play with j2, or me for allowing what had been a very nicely conserved chip lead to be placed in such jeapordy?Huh?

Just standard douche imo.

He sensed weakness due to the button limp which i dont mind, but he should've just mucked to the r/r.

Him no doubt. Unfortunately as often in poker you just have to suck it up and realise that it is good to have dead money like him playing poker.

As a sidepoint, why have you just been limping on the button in the first place? In previous hands I mean.

So I decided to try a new approach and play my (less than premium) hands slower from late position to let me see cheaper flops, with less risk to my stack.

Play weak and limp/fold a lot you mean?

Pretty much lol

I'm more looking at conserving my stack size, and maybe hitting something on the cheap. I know that this sounds like flawed thinking (and very probably is), its just that recently I've managed to blow my stack even with premium hands as the suckouts have come thick and fast recently...

I take it you advocate carry on playing big hands (and some marginal) stong and fast Boldie??

The only reason I ask, is that bar my ft the other night and an 11th in the 50k (another big blow up close to the real money), is I am on a pretty barren run. I keep getting to the bubble or very close, so I am obviously doing something right. I'm a little concerned that these have dented my confidence, so all advice in playing the big stack is really appreciated...

Yeah mate, I do advocate playing them hard and fast if you have been getting plenty action with the big hands. Sometimes you have to mix it up a bit of course but I think you said it yourself when you pointed out; it's a confidence thing...and that's maybe the most difficult bit of all. Lord knows I go through horrendous spells of not having any confidence in my game because I'm not posting any decent results. After looking at it more closely though I found I lost coinflips at crucial times or lose 80-20 shots at those times and that's just the way it goes sometimes. You can only keep playing to the best ofyour ability and try to learn from every situation. One win/decent cash and your confidence will come back mate but you also have to realise that the curse of the MTT player is variance..and my Lord it's some curse.

Nothing wrong with mixing your play up a bit - you had a good reason for it. The result wasn't what you wanted but that is totally irrelevant. You created a dream scenario and that's all you can ever do!

As Doyle Brunson once said - "Thank you for the business!"

Just go looking for him heads up!
